HA! :) this is nice :))
I will for sure install and use it, this is one my first wishes since the beginning of canola design :) ( my first canola flash has the "send" "send to flickr" option :))) but this is even better :)

Thanks!

And it's coming as opensource :)

Re: [Announce] Canola-Flickr (0.0.3) (first public release)

Thank you very much, the send-to-flickr-option is one of the points i would like to implement in the plugin, basically every function from Flickr is usable through the Flickr-Api (http://www.flickr.com/services/api/), the question is just how these things could be integrated in Canola. (For the send-option, an entry in the contextmenu of the local imageviewer would be the best, i guess, i just need to figure out how to implement this.) :)

I guess i should have contacted you at the Summit too, i only spoke with Etrunko and showed him the plugin.

Regarding the opening of Canola: This is really great news!!! ;)

Hi Chelli,

Your plugin is a great addition to Canola. I'm going to try it right now.

At times it seems slow to load, but neat to play with.

Beautiful - great to have Flickr integration in Canola via the add-on.
This is great and a good use of Canola.
Thanks a ton - now I can chuck those iPhone layout based Flickr web sites to browse my Flickr albums.

Also saves me the trouble to copying my photos over to the N810 to view them seperately - since now I can just browse them via Canola-Flickr.

Chelli, not only that:
If you need our help, let us know :) we can help you not only in the development side throught the team, but also in the design side. We will use it and analyze it, and "report" bugs and patches as well in ui if you want :)

also I will put a task for Miguel (mperes) so we can provide you the icons for the main themes! it's the least we can do :)

Cheers from Brasil!

Marcelo

Re: [Announce] Canola-Flickr (0.0.3) (first public release)

Just wanted to add some more info - it works absolutely great over Wifi, I could ditch storing all photos on internal memory and instead view my photos traisght from the Flickr site pretty well - and since my phone allows to uplaod straight to Flickr vis Shozu, thsi is a great combination.

I tried the same using my 3G connection, and over here it seems a bit slow though - and so when no wifi is available maybe its better to have some photos stored internally rather than view online.

But anyway, I ditched sites such as iPhlickr or Flickr mobile anyway and am using Canola-Flickr now.

My one wish, in teh full screen mode, is there a way to show the title of the photo as well ?
Also can comments against any photos be also shown in some more ?

Yes, of course i want! I guess i should create a garage project for the plugin, so others can report bugs there. The most important points on my TODO-List are currently: Changing the image-listings to display thumbnail-images and maybe some Meta-Information (Date, Owner, ...) - i tried to figure out how the youtube-plugin creates the fancy video-listings, but i still do not really understand how it works. ;-)

Then i want to add support for caching the metadata in a database, showing metadata (comments, exif-information, ...) in the context-menu of the images, changing the plugin to use canolas downloadmanager, ... - the list of ideas is very long. ;-)

This would be great, the current icon was just created from the tango-icons, only the two colored dots were added. ;-)

Regards,
Thomas

This is basically what it allready does - the plugin asks Flickr, which images are available in the current context like a photoset and it afterwards checks if there is allready an image with this id in the local download-folder, if there is no image locally, it tries to get the available resolutions from Flickr and starts downloading the files into the local download-folder. So browsing through images which you allready downloaded once over wifi should be relatively fast even over 3G. :)

A complete offline-mode should be possible too, but this would require a lot of coding work first. :)

This is a planned feature, i want to add such entries to the contextmenu in the image-viewer, where you currently only have the option about looping the images in the slideshow.

@Chelli: Hey duuude! Thank you again for the flickr plugin. Unfortunately, with the beta10 release it is not working anymore. We introduced some new features which demands a few modifications in the packaging. Take a look on the debian/rules files of our plugins and please let me know if you need anything.

Best Regards, Etrunko.

Re: [Announce] Canola-Flickr (0.0.3) (first public release)

I took some time and fixed the debian/rules file and uploaded it to extras-devel for chinook and diablo. I'm sending the patch by mail.

Chelli

I just decided to postpone the upload a little bit, i would like to finish one important feature before the next release.

Well, the package in extras-devel should work with canola2 beta10, thanks to Etrunko. Before Etrunkos upload i migrated the older version into extras, so this version should continue to work fine with beta9.

Not really, i just work on it if i have some sparetime and if i am in the mood to do some programming. :)
