Any interest for Coverfinder?
1 Attachment(s)
Hi All,
I've been researching what it would take to add automatic cover art fetching to my application, Tabletbridge and found a good example. It compiles and runs on the tablet fine so I thought I would ask to see if there was any interest in it. If so, I can package it up and put it in extras. The application is Coverfinder - it takes a search query and then downloads covers from Amazon. I used an older version of the application due to library requirements, 0.1.1. The covers can be saved to the tablet's file system. Attachment 2480 thanks, Frank |
Re: Any interest for Coverfinder?
I'd be interested in it. It would save me time.

Re: Any interest for Coverfinder?
FYI: Got the deb built yesterday, got the garage project approved today. I'll upload to the autobuilder next. Once that works, it will be in extras.

Re: Any interest for Coverfinder?
when you select a cover from it do you have the option of what size and name? becase canola use cover.jpg and cover-small.jpg
|
Re: Any interest for Coverfinder?
How long it will take to be in Extras?
|
Re: Any interest for Coverfinder?
There is no size option, but location and name are up to you.

Re: Any interest for Coverfinder?
I'm guessing I'll have it in extras-devel tonight and after a bit of testing I'll get it in extras the following day.
The autobuilder worked, but I have some touchups to do before it makes it to the extras-devel repository. Quote:

Re: Any interest for Coverfinder?
what size image does it download? and will i be able to specify a location such as /home/user/.canola/covers/"artist"/"album" ?
|
Re: Any interest for Coverfinder?
The size is whatever amazon.com has, but they tend to be a maximum of 500x500 pixels in my experience. I don't recall if it supported .folders but that seems like a useful feature for Canola users. In fact a "Save For Canola" option might be useful where it automatically saves in the format/location Canola expects.

Re: Any interest for Coverfinder?
well for canola its /home/user/.canola/covers and inside that there is a folder for each artist and inside each of those folders is all the albums by that artist...these are the folders that the cover.jpgs would go but for canola it takes 2....cover.jpg (for now playing view and large album select view) and cover-small.jpg (for the cover-flow-like view)

Re: Any interest for Coverfinder?
Coverfinder is up in extras-devel. It works fine on my tablet. Any feedback that it worked for others would be appreciated.
Keep in mind I did not do any hildonization at all - this is a recompile of the original source plus the required packaging for maemo. Frank |
Re: Any interest for Coverfinder?
So I got fed up with the save-as dialog not being hildonized and changed that last night. Unfortunately, I did not bump the version so I have dorked the download altogether. Sigh. Anyway, I'll fix that tonight and try again.

Re: Any interest for Coverfinder?
Undorked. Please try it and let me know if it's promotable to extras.
thanks, Frank |
Re: Any interest for Coverfinder?
I have upgraded it and it's working. Simple and easy to use.

I get "Unable to install coverfinder. Installation file corrupted" when trying to install :o Edit: Here is the output from Apt: Code:
apt-get install coverfinder |
Re: Any interest for Coverfinder?
HI BrentDC,
In Application Manager, refresh the packages by clicking on Check For Updates and clicking the circular arrows at the bottom right of the screen. What you are seeing is the problem I created by uploading a new build without bumping the revision number. thanks, Frank Quote:

Re: Any interest for Coverfinder?
This is pretty cool :) Is it possible to be expanded to search book covers and dvd // vhs?
|
Re: Any interest for Coverfinder?
Probably so. Let me get a maemo.org page setup first and promote to extras and then I'll explore book/dvd covers.

Re: Any interest for Coverfinder?
Well, coverfinder is in extras, but the creation of a .install file that used to occur doesn't seem to be done automatically anymore. I've created a .install file but haven't gotten a place to put it yet.
If there are any developers that have used the diablo autobuilder and know of a way to get the .install file hosted, please let me know so I can make a maemo.org project page under downloads. thanks, Frank |
Re: Any interest for Coverfinder?
I checked in to this and it looks like it is possible and hopefully won't be too hard to do. I'll work on this now that I've got my maemo.org page up for coverfinder. My plan is to add a 2nd dropdown to allow the selection of Music (current default), Books, and DVD.
Oh so get this, the current search is will allow the following: artist:<search artist>;title:<search title> So searching for Eric Johnson's cd Tones: artist:Eric Johnson;title:Tones Of course Books will have to support: author:<search author>;title:<search title> And it seems DVD should allow: actor:<search actor>;director:<search director>;title:<seach title> Frank Quote:

Re: Any interest for Coverfinder?
Hi,
is this project defunct? I just tried to use it, it install and loads up correctly, but the search does not return anything. Thanks |
