benny1967, are you a solcialist and think Nokia is socialist also ? You think they do not care about profit and just put out devices for fun ?

If Nokia doesnt do something soon about marketshare and profitability they are going to die.

Probably. They'll die any minute now. Their tiny market share shows they simply don't understand the mobile business and never did.

Given my experience (three times now) with their lack of post-purchase support for replacing, repairing or making available parts for repairing their products, I, for one, am in deep agreement.

My BH-501 BT headset cracked right where people have been saying they crack all the time. I called Nokia's support number and they told me that they don't warranty physical damage. I had just bought these about two weeks ago and because of a badly designed piece of plastic, they're virtually useless now and Nokia has offered me a 15% discount on $89.95 for a product I had purchased for a less than $65.

I think I'm finally done with Nokia altogether, now. I ended up picking up a pair of Phillips BT headphones (I've had GREAT experiences with their products overall) today to replace my BH-501 and I'm going trough my favorite shoppings sites to point out my disappointment and to warn people to be careful about these physical defects and Nokia's policies.

If there's any 'stupidest move Nokia could make', it's that they don't seem to care about their brand's reputation for making easily breakable products (again, this is the third item that has damaged under normal--not extreme--use).

Personally, I prefer using SIPphone (Gizmo)... MUCH cheaper and since it's standard SIP... over-the-Internet calls are free between any number of carriers.. not just a Gizmo-to-Gizmo only thing like Skype has going.

Its not free.

Its 1.9 cents per minute.

You can talk all night for free (9PM to 6AM) and all weekend long using Tmobile.

True, calling outside the Internet (POTS, cellphones, etc.) will cost--but you're not limited to ONLY calling other Skype customers. You can pretty much dial Internet-to-Internet free using SIP protocol to any server that's doing SIP without it costing a dime since your software connects straight to the server you're communicating to as opposed to a common carrier that has to then connect you along even further.

Calling any landline in the US (even non-Skype landlines) costs me $30 a year. It costs more if you don't pay by the year.
