Heck, I walked into a meeting with some clients, tapped into their wifi network - pre-arranged access - and showed them their website on a handheld that had a darn good screen since my laptop was the webserver for this experiment. All just to show them that the Adobe Flex project would run on the slowest machine they didn't have. Quote:
My internet tablet allows me to type messages like this... while even on the toilet. And if accessories are another problem, I just had a gentleman make me a pouch I'd be proud of in public. I think you should have done a bit more research and your outcome would have been totally different. Good luck on your endeavors. It just seems like the N810 was not made for you. And that's not a bad thing. I use mine alongside my iPhone 3G which still doesn't have Adobe Flash. |

Re: Diablo BLOWS
I don't support any PCs, but I do run a network with three-thousand of them connected, does that count? I'm not a linux professional, nor am I any OS professional - I leave that to the OS guys - but I still get along just famously with both my Tablet and its Diablo OS.
It's true that flash does not run fast enough on some sites - making the BBC news website a particular pain in the ***, but that's easily got around by leaving it disabled, using a low-graphics version or a little greasemonkey/user css. All in all though I fail to see what is so bad about either the ITs or Diablo. They are small-format devices that are hugely customisable, good all-rounders and easy to fit in a pocket. I can understand why people have strong feelings about them - in both directions. Davidsco27, I am speaking directly to you here for a moment, although it is also applicable in a more general sense which is why I am not PM'ing it: Leaving aside any personal feelings I might have, they aren't relevant or appropriate in this forum, may I humbly suggest that if you find the device and its operating system so insufferable then you find a combination that is more appropriate to your particular set of requirements? You do seem to have a somewhat mercurial relationship with your Internet Tablet - almost Latin in its intensity - and I can't help feeling that you may be better served by a different device. I don't mean this in a negative way, I just genuinely feel that given the posts you have made here, this obviously isn't the device for you. That's not to imply that you aren't good enough for it, or that it isn't good enough for you, merely that it isn't the device you want. |

My N800 came with 2 stylus. I have not lost one yet. The whiner is both clueless --and-- careless to quickly lose two stylus.
I love my N800(s), shortcomings and all. |

to both davids fighting here: please do stop, I really feel you're using these forums to vent frustration, and believe me, they are not meant for that, and you are bothering the rest of the users. I'm pretty sure you are both able to get into a civilized discussion without problems, if you just try. Thanks Elia |

Sorry, I, like the average consumer, didn't even know about the forums here. I actually hate forums for the very reason we're seeing here. A LOT of wasted time, and a LOT of chest thumping |

Re: Diablo BLOWS
[QUOTE=Johnx;230926]Ah! Now it comes out. I get this from a lot of Windows admins when faced with having to learn another platform and realizing that their Windows knowledge doesn't apply to the larger world. There's resentment and frustration and they feel it must be the fault of the new system for not conforming to their expectations. Some long-time Windows users are willing to treat linux as a new challenge and learn about the differences and get over this initial learning curve. Some people get frustrated, blame linux for being different than windows and run away.
I don't have to learn Windows to make the computer work, and I don't have to learn Linux to make this work, I do, BTW, have an Ubuntu based PC as well. The point is, this doesn't work reliably. |

The problem is, I need it to fit in the device, as the original does. I don't want to have to carry around another piece |

Back to the original topic (BTW, my forum editor does have spell check): If you use rtcom-beta-os2008 you don't need Pidgin. Yes it's beta, but it works flawlessly for me. My N800 is my favorite toy (well, maybe my second favorite toy). It is exactly what I expected when I bought it, a Linux device that can be endlessly configured. I never grow bored with it. If you did your research you would have known what it was before you spent the money. Anybody who spends that much money without doing the research first is a fool. |
Re: Diablo BLOWS
Okay, I think what David is trying to say is that he doesn't like Diablo, but I'm not 100% sure.
I don't see the point of complaining about it and then coming and insulting everyone that would have or could have helped you through your problems, but hey, I'm only Linux geek, right? I'm not supposed to know about human interaction. |

As an update, I just did manage to get Pidgin working again. I downloaded it from the project site on my Laptop, moved the file to my networked UPNP drive, and installed it from there, and for whatever reason, it worked. :rolls eyes, passes gas, sighs: |

No, I am not a homosexual but thank you for thinking I might be. As for who started what, you were the one hurling personal insults first and others just defended themselves, including me. Interesting thing, a forum. David |

Re: Diablo BLOWS
Hi,
Just curious, are you able to get through one post without hurling an insult? People might listen if you did not come off as the very thing you accuse others of. You do not like Diablo, I think everyone got that in the first post. You have spent the rest of the thread insuring the members here feel that way towards you also. Is there a point to alienating the members here from your position or would you rather they share your position? If it is the latter, you are going about it all wrong. David |

Coming out here are crying throwing a tantrum is not really very constructive. If you purchased something and it does not meet your needs return it. If its too late, sell it for what you can and take a loss. Thats life. But for Gods sake, shut the f uck up you whiney 3 year old. Go buy a windows mobile device or an iphone, please do us all a favor. If it does not meet your needs, thats your mistake. Please do some research before you spend 400$ and save us all the hassle. |

Re: Diablo BLOWS
Here's the thing, if you are going to complain on something, propose a solution on how to fix it. It's always more constructive that way.
