PLEASE HELP! youtube, espn, etc not able to read FLASH

I'm totally ignorant about computers. I have a N810. Was able to view videos before on youtube, espn, etc etc, but now the sites say I need an updated version. So, I went to the link provided, and it takes me to Adobe's Flash player dowload site. I chose the first option which says I have Linux x86, and chose the first of three options .tr.gz for Linux....nothing happened after download. Tried the second option .rpm for linux, and no download occurred, tried third option YUM, and it just opened up the media player.

Please help me and tell me what the hell to do....I'm clueless, obviously.

Act as though you're talking to a 10 year old who knows very little about computers.

thank you ver much for your help.

This is the problem. You don't have Linux x86 but Linux ARM. Adobe doesn't provide this version for download. Nokia is licensed to distribute it on the tablet. You have to rely on Nokia for publishing an update.

But sometimes this doesn't even help. Some very clever sites (or at least their web designers think they do it very clever) are too stupid to detect a Flash plugin on uncommon computer platforms, and simply refuse to offer the Flash content because their detection mechanism is so clever and error-free (or at least their clever web designers think so).
If you encounter such a site, chances are that you'll never be able to view it on the tablet, no matter how up-to-date your Flash plugin is.

I´ve read about Flash on ITs before, but this time I had a thought...
Could this be possible, or even feasible ??

How does the website ask the browsing computer about Flash, and how does the computer reply ?

I imagine a small program (to be loaded when needed) catching the question and substituting the answer with <"yes, I do have this Flash">.
Or should such a pgm sit between the OS and the browser?
?.

/ New member, with just about enough experience to know how dumb computers are, no linux knowledge.

I have enjoyed reading this forum for quite some time (and learned a lot).
(Now that cloning to SD and Debian are reachable also for newbies, I will try them out.)

THANK YOU ALL who have helped us beginners out !!

Check and see if you still have Flash turned on in the browser:

In the browser click the little magnifying glass icon in the bottom right corner, select "Components", "Shockwave Flash" should have a check mark in front of it. If it doesn't, select it to turn Flash on.

Although it doesn't happen often, mine has somehow gotten turned off in the past.
