Re: Problems with Carman 0.7

Brendan,

I had this error when installing Carman. what I did was to ...

1) open a xterm window
2) log into root (you will need one of the root packages installed such as becomeroot, or root)
3) enter this command /etc/init.d/carmand stop
4) install carman again

This has worked a couple of times for me.

Re: Problems with Carman 0.7

Brendan, please run the carmand in root a console (/etc/init.d/carmand stop/start) and send us the error.

Re: Problems with Carman 0.7

gazza_d and folhabranca, thanks to you both. With the carmand service stopped, 0.7 installed without issue.

what puzzles me is why have i removed everything carman related, and daemon process still exists. It would seem to me that the uninstall efforts or the removal tool should clear up those loose ends, I did both and neither seemed to pick up that last daemon process running.

Hey all,

I solved my problem by following the instructions from post 1 at the following link:

http://www.internettablettalk.com/fo...ad.php?t=21613

Hope this will help others who are having the same problem.

Re: Problems with Carman 0.7

When I try to install Carman, after the file is downloaded I immediately get the message "Operation Failed". This is from trying through the Application Manager, maemo.org One-Click Install, or directly from the Carman website.

I tried the Carman 0.6 Clean up tool, but I never had 0.6 installed so it didn't do anything.
