But, hell, the render looks kinda cool. I'm just noting digging on the "iPhone button". If it looked more like just half a mac-book, I would definitely consider getting one. Then I would load Ubuntu on it. :D |
Re: Apple Tablet/islate/mac book nano?
As much as I love my N810... I'd be there for this.

Re: Apple Tablet/islate/mac book nano?
Hmph. The assumption you could run Ubuntu on it is not necessarilly good. Obviously I'm just speculating, but to me it seems a lot more likely to be (as suggested by the linked article) an 800x480 or so iPhone-like device, so non-x86. Hardware-wise, I'm not seeing any real advantages over a Pandora or N9xx, and very little over an N8x0. Considering the likely cost difference, I'm unlikely to be interested when it is released.
If, otoh, it turns out to be the long-awaited MacTablet or UMPC, it'll just be another sweet piece of hardware with a bit too high a premium for me. |
Re: Apple Tablet/islate/mac book nano?
Looks nice but I hope there will NOT a sim card slot in it.
It turns out that most devices without a sim slot sell hundreds of $$$ less than a comparable device with a sim card slot. e.g. N810 vs N95/ n96 or e71 iPod touch vs iPhone |

*yawn*
with this and jobs claim of the iphone being a netbook, my week of insanity is complete... |
Re: Apple Tablet/islate/mac book nano?
Even tho Apple is great with keeping stuff under the lid, I think it's probably EEEs or similar devices running Leopard/Tiger which show up in the server logs.

I wont buy tablet pc that does not fit in my pocket. And i prefer small laptops, because their display is kinda safe

Re: Apple Tablet/islate/mac book nano?
A load of hoompa made for pageviews, and that picture is bullocks. If that picture is true (its probably a mockup), it isn't a netbook nor a Macbook nano. Its a tablet with touchscreen, aka smartphone-without-phone. Like the NIT.
I don't believe Apple sees a market in this because these devices don't add much compared to an Ipod Touch or Iphone Touch. Why not? Because these 2 previously mentioned devices already provide Internet with WiFi and 3G, and Apple doesn't provide much 3rd party development, or allow things like tethering. You want 24/7 on a tablet, and Nokia understands this. In any case, it would not be as versatile as our N900 or N8x0. You don't need MacOS X to surf the Internet... A nettop for travelling and a laptop for home/business might be worthwhile for some, but the interface on the picture is touch screen. |
Re: Apple Tablet/islate/mac book nano?
The 770 and N800 were touchscreen only, and sold rather well.
|
Re: Apple Tablet/islate/mac book nano?
The N800 would still sell rather well, if it were on sale.

Re: Apple Tablet/islate/mac book nano?
That picture is definitely not legit. I was reading a blog the other day where the guy had 4 or 5 mockups of an apple tablet that he WISHES Apple would make and that pic is one of HIS MOCKUPS. It has nothing to do with Apple. I'll try and see if I can find the blog again.

Re: Apple Tablet/islate/mac book nano?
It still doesn't have 104" quad-hd display, so it sucks anyway.
|
Re: Apple Tablet/islate/mac book nano?
Looks like a nice mookup, but its just that. And besides, its way too thin. A tablet thing as thick as a USB port and has a display? No I don't think so. And the on-screen keyboard takes up more than half the screen? Unusable. But I would like to see Apple come out with a ulta-portable device that isn't a phone.
