N810 w/Broken screen for sale 120$

Hi again, i'm selling my broken n810. The screen is not broken but the touchscreen doesn't work, it's a long story but in short: the touchscreen layer isn't there. The unit does have some scratches, but very minor ones. You can buy a new screen (tesseco.com) and spray paint the body to get a custom, or you can buy it for the interneal parts (motherboard, camera, gps, wlan, bluetooth, ect.) IM me if you want to buy or you want some pics. I ship with USPS, same day I get the money, an I will provide tracking number.

EDIT: comes with the n810, charger, case, box, 2 styli, manual, cable, car mount
thanks

The touch screen isn't there or the cable came lose?

Why not repair it under warranty?

Re: N810 w/Broken screen for sale 120$

It's that My n810 got a huge scratch and I took off the factory screen protector and along with it came off the touch screen layer. I was thinking it had the same setup at the n800 (screen protector>thin plastic sheet>screen with wires at the bottom) but the n810 has screen protector>touch screen layer>screen. So yeah I don't think the warranty will cover it. But I might be going to a different platform anyways, or I might wait for the n900.

Thanks

Um, what? The panel is an integrated unit, there's no way taking off the screen protector took off the touch layer.

Re: N810 w/Broken screen for sale 120$

Yeah well, I plucked bottom corner of the screen in attempt to take off the screen protector and I guess I went too deep and got both layers. but yeah I know it wasn't a smart move alright? But I got it and i'm trying to sell it and that's that.

I don't think there's any question of smart. You didn't pluck off the touch layer. There's no way.

That said, more than a few N810s have had screens or touch layers go dead due to display cables coming loose. I'd put my money on that before you peeling off the touch layer (which simply isn't possible, unless you used a knife).

I think considering that you're being obviously dishonest about how the damage occurred, I would urge any prospective buyers to be extremely cautious. The best case scenario here is that you're ashamed of admitting what actually happened, but the product is as stated.

If that's the case, then can you post photos to prove the current state? If the "touchscreen" is gone, does that mean the LCD works too sans touchscreen?

Well alright you can believe that, but I was the one that was actually here when I took it off. And if you really want to contradict everything that i'm posting then you can pm me and stop posting the the ad.

Wow - a newbie vote of confidence!

joshv06 - A couple of Q's
Does all else work well?
Have you tried using a B/T mouse with it?
Have you checked here for a couple of other threads about "dead screen"?

My screen went dead when my cheap screen protector slid underneath the bezel. It came back.

Just one more suggestion to test... If the touchscreen layer is gone, then all you see is the hard plastic/glass screen itself. When you press it with a stylus you'll see no bowing of the screen surface. If the soft plastic touchscreen layer is still in place you can see that (bowing) easily with dimmed screen when holding against a light at proper angle. (In my tablet the plastic layer bows more close to the edges of the screen. In the middle there is not much bowing.)

Can you also post photos of the removed layer?

Re: N810 w/Broken screen for sale 120$

I'll post pics when I get home later on tonight, and yes the N810 still works perfectly fine but the touchscreen layer isnt there, im guessing since the screen is ok, all you need is to buy that layer.

thanks

Re: N810 w/Broken screen for sale 120$

Yeah the first layer was actually the trans reflective layer, which was really thick I might add and had multiple sheets. Then was the touch screen layer which had a ribbon wire at the top right and had a Grey lining around it. I forgot it, I left it at my dad's house but i'll post pics about two weeks from now to show the y'all who are curious.

No, the screen is sold as a complete unit, so there's no way to just buy the touchscreen layer (at least officially)

Just, fyi, not all touchscreens are created equal. I have 4 tablets, only one of which has the soft spongey screen like you describe, the rest all feel like hard plastic.

I have two N800. One has the compliant (spongey) touchscreen layer, the other has the hard screen that doesn't deform when touched.

I prefer the harder one that does not deform.

Why did Nokia change the design of the touchscreen?

I refrain from hijaacking this thread but I have one more question about screens.....can anyone please tell me the method of backilight? Is it cold cathode florescent, or white led? Thank you.

Honestly, I'm not sure what's up. I've seen both from early production runs and late production runs, so it doesn't seem like something they changed in the middle. . . .

No, it is not. It is the touchscreen controller IC:

Judging from the decription (TOUCH SCREEN CONT INT IC) I'd say that's just the "Touch screen controller (CONT) integrated circuit (IC)", not the touch screen.
I may be wrong.

Edit: mara beat me for a few seconds
