Downloading N800 programs
I'm in Afghanistan and my wireless internet is on again off again. But my laptop is hard wired. I want some programs from maemo.org, but it wants me to download them using the N800. Is there any way to get these programs downloaded onto my laptop and then transfer them to my SD card for the N800?

Re: Downloading N800 programs
Yes. Find the program's "project" page on garage.maemo.org. (Click "Homepage" under "Links" if you're on the program's maemo.org page.) You can usually download DEBs directly from there. Then copy the DEB to your n800 and run it from the file manager. Works like a charm. I do it all the time.

Re: Downloading N800 programs
If they are not in .deb form, then thats kind of hard. the .install file tells the tablet what it has to download and install (libraries and the such) before getting the program running. maybe someone knows a better way. Or some method to get your tablet connected from the laptop.

Ok, I found the garage site. But unfortunately, MCEGuru doesnt have any files on its project page. :( But, this will help for other programs I want to download that do have the files there, so thanks! :)

Have you considered rigging your n800 for wired internet? There's a HOWTO on the wiki.
