Maemo Mapper + Bluetooth GPS

Hi,

I have an N800 running OS 2007, and I'm trying to use Maemo Mapper v2.4.2 with a Siraya Bluetooth GPS unit.

In the Settings dialog in Maemo Mapper, the Bluetooth address field and the Scan button are disabled. Do I need to do something to enable Bluetooth GPS?

The GPS is working, it's fine in TomTom on my W950i, and Bluetooth is OK on the N800 as I use it for dial-up Internet access.

Thanks.

Alan.

I ran into the exact same issue. Check out

http://home.cfl.rr.com/genecash/nokia/index.html

About halfway down I mention how to edit /etc/bluetooth/rfcomm.conf, how to configure GPSd, and I have written shortcuts to easily start up Bluetooth and gpsd when you need it.

It's worth it, as MM 2.5 is a LOT more stable!

I rewrote the page to be a bit clearer in what you need to do, and why.

You shouldn't use these anyway, just set it to Bluetooth with a blank MAC address, then change the Location settings in the Control Panel to use your BT GPS. Leaving the BT MAC blank tells Maemo-mapper to use the control panel settings.

That's true for Diablo, 2007 doesn't have a GPS Location option in Control Panel :)

I ended up putting Diablo on my N800 - I've been meaning to do it for a while, but I was happy with 2007 really.

The GPS now works, both the standard mapping app and Maemo Mapper can see it.

Thanks.

Alan.

Hi,
This page is no longer available. I think I need it.

I just got a Holux M1000 and was trying to get MM to work.

The Bluetooth option is disabled in settings and I accidentally check on GPSD. I would really like to have the option to be selectable.

Tablet: Nokia 770
My OS is: 4.2008.7-1 (Yes, OS2007 HE)

Regards,
Lit

Same thing. 2007HE in my N770 and MM 2.6.2's GPS scan is cray... :( How can this be fixed? I got InSmat GPS BT.

Re: Maemo Mapper + Bluetooth GPS

Found this:
http://talk.maemo.org/showthread.php?p=103930
What I did was as instructed by j800:
Quote:

*Install new gpsd
**Get http://packages.debian.org/sid/gpsd/armel/download
**mkdir tmp2
**dpkg --extract gpsd_2.33-5_armel.deb tmp2
*Copy new files into place
**cp tmp2/usr/sbin/gpsd /usr/sbin
**cp tmp1/usr/lib/* /usr/lib
*Tweak libs
**cd /usr/lib
**ln -s libdbus-1.so.2.0.0 libdbus-1.so.3
Then, I followed the instructions over here, though I am not sure if the configuration is necessary? I followed the instructions by Gene Cash, though I am pretty sure that his site is no longer valid.

According to this, this is because the n770 does not have some floating point instructions that is available to her latter sibling.
