"Rescuing update" is shown because of the apt-worker didn't finish its work. Not a big problem.

Thanks, I'll take a closer look at it.

I've been away for a while, but am working on the problems. I still need a list of items you have turned on in AP. And by the way do you have python-launcher installed? All my tests showed less CPU use... One more idea: try restarting APM and look at the CPU load and attach APM's console output.

Should we have python-launcher?

My point is "No. No. And... no".

e?
Yesterday I deleted the apm and installed the old version (0.3.6). No problem, python used 2-3 MB and 0% load and cpu, on-denand at 165MHz. I installed again the 0.4.0 and the problems shown again

At some point, maybe on the next major release, it might be nice to make a new thread with title Advanced Power Monitor rather that Pybattery, as it took me a while to find this thread!

Yes please :)

I also have the 'issue' with the battery icon not correctly reflecting if the battery is being charged.

For me this was resolved by enabling display of one of the battery level items (battery, active time, or idle time). I think it was the battery level one. I have all three enabled now and it's typically working fine.
