Re: Pybattery - battery statusbar applet with candies
My battery had a similar problem. And it isn't merely low capacity, It was causing a reset when it was charging (and nearly full). Sometimes it would discharge rapidly or the time/capacity left would be way off and intermittent - sometimes it would go on and work fine, sometimes I'd hear the low battery beep in the evening.
Swapping batteries helped greatly. |

@2hours of watching cnn via worldtv99 via wifi I have 18.5% of battery left
we know that wifi burns battery so i do not find it unreasonable for only 2 hours of watching tv via wifi i will load an avi tomorrow and repeat w/o wifi on |

Re: Pybattery - battery statusbar applet with candies
running both maemo default and AB, default see battery as low when AB see it as 0.3% and <1 min left.
and AB suddenly started reporting that when the last time i looked it was showing some 40% left on the battery. seems it was able to keep goingg some 15 min web browsing after it reported the above. tho, thats on my crappy home wifi, where i need to use moderate power save for it to work... |
Re: Pybattery - battery statusbar applet with candies
I am wondering if I have a battery problem or if this is normal. I charge my n800 until it's fully charged, and it says 7 hours of use. I then use my tablet for about 1:45 hours and it starts giving me low battery warnings. What I was using it for during that time was some web browsing, playing a game, and chatting. After about 30 more minutes the low battery warnings become quite frequent. I have never waited for the battery to go dead before. My n800 was used altough in perfect condition so I'm not sure how much the previous owner used it. Is the battery just getting old, or is a little over 2 hours all I can expect from it? Or maybe it will go longer and I should just ignore the warnings? Also one other thing. I might buy off ebay a usb charger for my internet tablet that plugs into the charger port on the n800. Does anyone have one of these and do they work? THanks

Someone else had similar problem and solved it by replacing the battery. My battery is almost two years old. So it could be just the battery needs replacement. |
Re: Pybattery - battery statusbar applet with candies
seems similar to something i experienced. watched the battery drop from ca 45% to 0.3, and keep thing going for anher half hour or so...

Re: Pybattery - battery statusbar applet with candies
This behaviour might be the result of the battery's fuel gauge getting out of sync. See for example the section "Calibrate the notebook PC battery" here:
http://h20239.www2.hp.com/techcenter...attery_max.htm Of course, no one really knows how Li-Ion batteries work, so this procedure might lower you battery's capacity, instead of calibrating the fuel gauge. |
Re: Pybattery - battery statusbar applet with candies
So basically, it says to fully charge the battery, make sure the device doesn't go to sleep, while you fully discharge the battery, and then you fully charge it again. That doesn't seem so risky. Probably the easiest way to make sure it doesn't go to sleep and to make the battery discharge fast is to play a long video, right?

Re: Pybattery - battery statusbar applet with candies
There is supposed to be some light sensor function with this advanced battery app, right?
I don't have that. I have an N810 |
Re: Pybattery - battery statusbar applet with candies
And this feature (which I did a quick hack in python):
http://www.internettablettalk.com/fo...ad.php?t=26445 Pause when the charger is disconnected and play when it starts (like when using a car charger). |

Re: Pybattery - battery statusbar applet with candies
I have got a request/suggestion for this program. I did for a time have somehow managed to get the sounds of one of the Star Trek themes to overwrite the sounds of this app - and I liked the sound it made (like unto a cricket) when hooking to a charger better than the one you chose. Then I upgraded to the latest version and it went away.
Is there any way to make it so that I can choose among sounds when hooking to a charger? I would like something a bit louder at least, I really liked that cricket sound as I could hear it inside the unit's case. I would also like to see some kind of sound made (different than the first one) when the charger is de-tached. So I can tell without looking if it's charging or not. Thanks for a great app, btw. |

Re: Pybattery - battery statusbar applet with candies
Thanks for this; it's a great improvement over the standard battery applet :).
It also deals with a big bugbear of mine with the standard applet where it shows seemingly 50% power for ages and then drops to "Low Battery" all of a sudden :(. This power monitor solves this problem nicely with added utilities. It does make me wonder why the standard applet is comparitively so poor though . |
Re: Pybattery - battery statusbar applet with candies
Which one should I install? From reading the thread, I know that they're two different packages, but does one offer the functionality of both (say one is the lighter package?). Or do you need to install both to get the full benefit (say I want monitoring via graph and just something to replace my standard battery information).

Re: Pybattery - battery statusbar applet with candies
Thanks 412b for this applet... I have a rare issue. Every time i reboot my n810 i will need to start APMD manually... Is it a bug or it is conflicts with other apps?
I am using the latest version for both APM and AP... I have tried uninstall n install again... still same... Thank you for any help here first =) I am a 1 month old n810 user ^_^ |
Re: Pybattery - battery statusbar applet with candies
do you have the services applet installed?
it got a pesky bug where it will restore services/daemons with to high a start number, resulting in them failing because other services that they depend on are not already running. make sure that there is a S50apmd in /etc/rc2.d/. if you find a S20apmd or anything with a number lower then 50, it should be renamed (mv) to S50apmd. and you will need root access to do that... seriously, that services applet should either be removed from repos or cleaned up, the interface is a accident waiting to happen. |

Re: Pybattery - battery statusbar applet with candies
Since we have flight mode and similar goodies in advanced power... Could we get a Bluetooth on/off option ? Turning it on is a major clickfest (you do the applications, settings, control panel, bluetooth, on, OK, close panel - mantra). Or, if there is a simpler way of enabling bluetooth, a hint would be very welcome :)
