Is this a Diablo or Chinook device? I had the same issue with a Chinook device. It appears that the Chinook boot loader doesn't allow for a kernel that big.

One guy talking on google groups had similar issue, flash the whole device to latest .bin provided by nokia, then try again. That helped with him, i hope it works for you too

I saw that Solca updated the debugging kernel for 770. Unfortunately this version doesn't work too. This time the Nokia logo fades to white screen and that's it :) After 20-30 seconds the device shuts down.
