New non maemo theme.

Just finishing up final touches on my Aqua theme. This theme dosnt follow maemos scheme of just changing colors. Two bugs remain at present, one after loading the theme the background image isnt rendered correctly, to fix this go to Home/Tools/Set background image then just click ok. Two i havent adjusted the mini and touch keyboards to the color scheme, the blue color is too bright, i will adjust later. This is an attempt to make the tasknavigator bar transparent and blend in with the background image.

Screenshot is here

Theme can be downloded here (NEW LINK)http://web.mac.com/sonicjunki/iWeb/770/
This is hosted at my iDisk server so your browser may give an error saying unsuported browser however you should be able to ignore the error and click past it.

Please post your thoughts. Enjoy!

spotdog14 2006-07-23 16:41

it looks really sweet, but the first time i clicked on the link it reboot my 770, and the second time it just says unsupported browser.

wiredless 2006-07-23 16:53

Cant click past the unsupported browser? Also try from your desktop.

johsua 2006-07-23 17:37

what do you mean ''from your desktop''? i also only get the unsupported browser message.

the screenshot looks nice though.

konttori 2006-07-23 20:40

yeah. seems like disk.mac.com isn't working on nokias browser.

johsua 2006-07-24 00:24

I was able to install it. I like it, but I think for now I would like to use the old theme. How do I get it back to normal? I tried uninstalling, but that didn't work. I guess I should have had some idea of how the theme thing worked before doing this...

wiredless 2006-07-24 00:53

I moved the file to a new location, hope this works.
http://homepage.mac.com/sonicjunki/test9.deb
You may need to right click and save file.

As far as uninstalling the way the thememaker is set up now it will replace all the tasknavigator icons FOREVER. So may be a good idea to back your up first being as my theme will perminently replace them. Be sure to switch themes prior to uninstalling.

doh... i guess i could also learn how to use thememaker...

wiredless 2006-07-24 01:43

I have made a folder with the 4 stock maemo 2006 icons and instructions on how to reinstall them.
the icons can be downloaded here http://homepage.mac.com/sonicjunki/tasknavicons.zip

johsua 2006-07-24 02:32

You rock. I still want to learn how to use the thememaker, or at least how to change the look a little. I was able to figure out how to make my own background. I put a copy here:
http://www.internettablettalk.com/ga...to=112&cat=503
Thanks again.

wiredless 2006-07-24 03:45

All of the thememaker versions including 0.80 start you off with kontorri's base theme. You would have to copy a stock theme from the 770 to edit just the images. which you would have to do one by one. Then you would have to manually copy the theme back to the 770. thememaker is cool because 80% of the images are on one base image, so you just edit that one image and save then build theme. hopefully in the future Kontorri will add the keyboard button images so those can be edited as well.

maxilogan 2006-07-24 09:41

Hi Wiredless, great theme! I just installed and it installed fine. Also downloaded the original theme icons, just to be sure to be able to restore all if I want to go back.

The only thing I would say is: give us a smaller font version! :)

Actual one is the original one of the Nokia system, but almost all themes have a lower font dimension that's more usable

guennewig 2006-07-24 11:06

I totaly agree, great theme and eyecatcher - but should use 12pt. font as ngf (nokia giant font) means much less usability.
Am I the only one who has a narrow area left with old background (in my case the orange IT2006 default) directly below the status bar (whole statusbar length, nearly a fourth statusbar wide)?

maxilogan 2006-07-24 12:48

You're not the only one :)

Just select the menu, then Tools, then "Set background image" (these are translation fro the italian menu, please use your fantasy to get the matching item in your menu ;) )

In the window that will appear, set the image to fullscreen instead of centred

wiredless 2006-07-24 13:14

Thanks for the input. Im going to put together a web page this evening with some details on theme and will repackage with size 12 font. As for the background image alignment issue i have mine set at scaled.

maxilogan 2006-07-24 13:38

Which option is that, on the menu? Mine is the third and it worked ok.

Do not know whether it is understandeable or not, but my message was a suggestion to guennewig, not an help request :)

Thanks again for your work!

guennewig 2006-07-25 20:54

@maxilogan
thanks for the hint. with a little help of my brain i should have found out by myself ;-)

@wiredless
great news regarding 12pt. font. thanks a lot.
i mentioned today that i have some strange effects with the scrollbars. they aren't visible as scrollbars but seem to be a small part of the most right and most lower part of the screen. clicking in the bar area gives some strange effect as they slide and give a somewhat scrambled look. sorry, but don't know how to describe better.

wiredless 2006-07-26 02:24

12 point font version of AQUA theme is done. I made a new page at http://web.mac.com/sonicjunki/iWeb/770/770.html for easy downloading. The page also now has a theme to replace the stock tasknavigator icons If you access the page from Opera from the 770 disable java support in the setting. A bug in java makes these damn pages created with apples iweb not render correctly on the Opera browser on the nokia for some reason.

;)

same problem on scrollbars for me. I'll try the smaller font to see if it behaves differently

guennewig 2006-07-26 08:33

No, sadly does not :(
But I'm sure wiredless will solve it as soon as he knows what's going wrong and has time. Like he did when implementing the 12pt. font version.

onlife 2006-07-26 09:23

Hi there wiredless,

I'm currently using the 12 pt Aqua theme and appreciate your work very much. Thanks!

But besides the scrollbars' trouble, there's one little thing I'd like you to know, maybe you can work it out if you have the time:
When a small symbol (like in the file manager) or typed numbers and letters (like in phonelink's SMS number field) appear or are to be shown in a just as small kind of fenced-in environment (like an input field or cell), they are "pinstriped". I don't know if you wanted it to look like that, but in some cases that pinstriping makes the numbers and letters less readable. It's kind of a strain to describe it, I hope you get the point and are able to reproduce it.

wiredless 2006-07-26 13:20

Bug questions: On the scrollbar problem is this in Opera only? i had a problem where in opera the whole scroll bar disapeared. To fix that i switched back to a maemo them then back to mine again. Not sure if Kontorri has tried to overwrite Operas scroll bars but we disscussed it at one time. (onlife) when you say pinstriped is it the same pinstripe that is the boader around a menu list? As for any bugs if you would be so kind as to email me a picture of the problem it would help me solve it quicker: tomnuk@gmail.com. Any feedback on my web page? Is it working for everyone?

maxilogan 2006-07-26 14:14

I have a strange visualization on text entry fields, though I do not understand what "pinstriped" stand for, since I am not english nor american nor australian... I do not speak english as my first language!

I'll try to post a screenshot to your mail

Thanks, Omar

wiredless 2006-07-26 14:18

Konttori just sent me a new build of thememaker so im going to redo the themes this evening. He also answered my question as to had he tried theming Opera yet and he said yes its in the works and that he will get that included in thememaker next week. Not sure if this is why scroll bars are getting wacked or not. Check here for update info. http://web.mac.com/sonicjunki/iWeb/770/770.html

onlife 2006-07-27 07:50

How to reset startup screen after uninstalling aqua theme?

I've got one more question:

After I learned how to restore the icons - thanks to maxilogan, I presumably was just not reading thoroughly in this thread - I'd like to know how to restore the startup screen.

Since installing the aqua theme, there's a message "Please Wait" on startup and shutting down the 770, with an aquaish status bar on the bottom. How can I get back the original version?

Thanks,
onlife

wiredless 2006-07-27 12:45

I will add replacing the original startup screen to my list of things to do. I have a theme named tasknavrepair that replaces the stock icons so i will add it to that theme.

wiredless 2006-07-27 16:20

(test20.deb 16.75 system font) and (test21.deb 12.75 system font) now availabe. I have updated the page with bug info and whatnot.

Exactly right , I think the borders extend themselves into the fields somehow ...

Odin 2006-07-27 22:39

Mac is good.

What made you want to return to the old theme? I like the idea of a MacTablet since Apple seems in no hurry to prduce one.

wiredless 2006-07-27 23:46

(onlife) I have changed the boarder for the menus try the latest build and see if that helps. Exactly my thought Odin. I have been waiting years for just such a device from apple.
Newest builds can be found here.

Element 2006-07-28 01:37

wiredress
Just installed AQUAtest21, and get something wrong with sliding bar...
Also your site looks strange, those links is not in blue boxes...
And i am sorry, but can't install tasknavrepair

wiredless 2006-07-28 03:26

Element try switching back to a maemo theme then back to AQUA. If the links arent there how did you download the theme? I will have a look at tasknavrepair tomorrow.

wiredless 2006-07-28 11:54

New 7/28/06 (tasknavrepair) (test26 theme 16.75 font) (test27 theme 12.75 font)

See my theme page for more details.

wiredless 2006-07-30 17:38

New builds today. Please test this build and let me know if you feel something artwork wise should be changed. Waiting for a newer build of thememaker to work out the bugs we are having befor i can release as final which you can read about at my download page.

wiredless 2006-08-01 14:31

Change log 8/1/06: New builds today (test32 16.75 font) and (test33 12.75 font).
Great progress has been made with thememaker. Konttori has given me a new build that will reinstall maemo 2006 tasknavigator icons to there original state as well as the boot screen and boot progress bar when you uninstall my AQUA test32 and test33 builds. This build also fixed the background image alignment issue on install of my theme. Work is still in progress trying to theme Opera browser so im not sure if the disappearing scroll bar in Opera is still present. After installing and uninstall AQUA theme reboot your device in order to see tasknavigator icon changes.

guennewig 2006-08-01 16:26

seems that there is an error in both theme links. i only get a message telling "can't find homepage you?re requesting".

jroman91 2006-08-01 16:54

Your link is not working for either theme on your .mac page can you see if it is some issue on your side? I really like the theme and would love to have a try at using it.

outZider 2006-08-01 20:52

Yeah, same here. Page is working fine, invalid links to download the .deb file. No luck adding the iWeb or 770 directories, either.

wiredless 2006-08-01 22:18

Sorry folks I was half asleep this AM when I did the update and forgot to upload to my server. Download links are good now. Please send feedback bugas and suggestions to: tomnuk@gmail.com

Enjoy!

jnack95 2006-08-01 23:13

Nice work...

I like the theme. Is the new version of Theme Maker available for general consumption? Thanks.
