tablet-encode & streaming

Hi,

does anybody know how to modify the tablet-encode script to stream the transcoded video directly via http or rtp to mplayer on the N8x0, instead of writing it to a file?

Based on some mencoder tutorials I did already try to get streaming working with tablet-encode (ffserver...). So far without much success.

Currently I'm using VLC for transcoding & streaming video from my PC to mplayer on my N800. This is working quite well as far as the streaming part is concerned. Though the video itself has sometimes problems. e.g. with VLC's transcoding video quality is worse than with tablet-encode/mencoder and sometimes there are problems with the aspect ratio...
So I would prefer to be able to do the same with tablet-encode.

( I'm aware that there is a description at http://www.internettablettalk.com/fo...ad.php?t=23572 how to stream from mencoder to mplayer via netcat. But for me the netcat solution is not working as well as direct http streaming for whatever reason. Connection dropping... So that's not exactly what I'm looking for. )

Thanks.

Re: tablet-encode & streaming

I've already written a script which will stream a video, transcoded using tablet-encode, to a tablet over HTTP.

It's called mediaserv.
