liqbase :: library

hi guys,

Its been noticed by a few that I've gone extremely quiet around here of late :)

I have been busy.
Busy refactoring a lot of my code in an attempt to create a library and framework so I (and you) will be able to create wonderful shiny applications on this device and on anything Nokia or others throw at us in the future.

I am running around like a mad man fixing up different elements of the library and making sure that the API is as logical as I can personally make it.

At this point, the library is shaping up nicely and I have started to document the available classes and have been trying to ensure it all works with the same kind of stability liqbase currently has.

Its a long process and has been a dark time for me, I miss just making new innovative shiny things, but can see the light at the end of the tunnel with it.

In the next couple of weeks I will be updating the SVN with a minor liqbase update (small fixes only, not the large things requiring api changes) and the library I am creating along with a number of examples and ideas.

Of course, the next thing I will be doing is bringing in my core liqbase applications in a manner which is both expandable and documented.

My apologies its taking longer than I thought and I thank you (yes, YOU, you know who you are :p) for your patience.

Well, building solid and clean foundations instead of shiny (if shaky) castles always takes time and down-below grunt work. Your decision is the right one but not the easiest : kudos for your dedication and, yes, courage. We will wait, and we'll be there to tear the beast apart when the time comes :-)

Re: liqbase :: library

hey, my castles weren't shaky :p
they were ummm all locked in together and interrelated.

Its not conducive to community editing and assistance to have to be careful that you don't stomp on a different application.

I really dig your program. The graffiti wall is awesome. If only i would stop hitting delete by accident.

Re: liqbase :: library

go into the sketches folder (listed on startup) and rename anything you have "deleted" :)

Hi

I like making notes and sketches with liqbase but I don't need the other functions. So my idea would be something like "liqsketch" as a single application :)

Re: liqbase :: library

bongo,

that is entirely what is expected :)

liqbase has been selected as a Fremantle Star and as such we will be concentrating upon the artistic, sketching and photographic side of the system.

With Nokias assistance we will be producing liqsketch to the best of our abilities.
(I am already on this road anyway)

:cool: Congratulations on being picked! ( don't know how I missed the announcement...)

Given how awesome liqbase is on the N8x0 series, I'm drooling at the idea of it on newer hardware.... :D

qole,

as qgil said today, it doesn't say *what* hardware :p it might be an 80286 for all I know.

Yeah, yeah. Now that you're signing an NDA, you've joined the Dark Side.

I can trust nothing you say, Sith.

Re: liqbase :: library

no dark side.

what I have got is a new sliq youtube video.

i should really make a proper thread about it here, but I can't be arsed this one will do.

Saw your blog post on the Planet, watched the video, and came running back here... you're out to kill Microsoft, right ? :-)

lcuk 2009-02-07 19:53

Re: liqbase :: library

heh fpp, no, microsoft are very very good at desktop key/mouse driven UI.

I'm simply trying to build something I can touch :)

You are building something that is tempting me to not wait for n900. So smooth and sexy...

lcuk 2009-02-08 07:18

Re: liqbase :: library

manda, for sure most parts of liqbase will run on current hardware, but the experience will be optimal on n900 - all i am trying to do is make the most of what we have now and preparing for the future.

i can't wait to get a decent camera, I can't wait to see what extra things we can make to for it.
the extra cpu power available will allow the system to literally glide along whilst doing the other things people will expect to occur once this takes off.

Nice, but what did you do to your light sensor. You killed it!

Its so smooth, so fast... Can't wait.

Is the video available anywher else? All I seem to get from youtube these days is

"were sorry, this video is no longer available"

Re: liqbase :: library

It's available here in Bosnia :)

Re: liqbase :: library

When do you plan on releasing the library? I'm currently looking and developing something and I'm seriously looking a QT because it is LGPL and very cross platform.

But liqbase looks like a interesting idea as the graphical input portion. Is it only in GPL or are you planning on making the library LGPL?

Nathan.
