munky:
Some of your problems (login problems) seem to have something to with https support. |

I was thinking something along those lines, i think i remember seeing something on a post a little while back about ssl not being supported, or something like that. Heres another problem, and as far as I can tell this is the only site it occurs on (plentyoffish.com). The text on the right side going out of the frame. (where it says read/unread, and the banner frame, etc) What might cause this?
|
Re: Tear 0.3 - Simple WebKit browser, now with Dashboard
This looks like a problem with the site. Check with a webkit browser with small dimensions. About the ssl suport - I hard enabled it directly in the last webkit that's why I'm asking if you're with the latest...

Re: Tear 0.3 - Simple WebKit browser, now with Dashboard
Whats the latest webkit? I thought I had the latest. It shows up fine in microb, even tried it on an iphone once and it was fine. What kind of problem might it have?

Re: Tear 0.3 - Simple WebKit browser, now with Dashboard

Re: Tear 0.3 - Simple WebKit browser, now with Dashboard
Also check image download.

Re: Tear 0.3 - Simple WebKit browser, now with Dashboard
That works now as well! Thats 2 items crossed off the list. :)

Re: Tear 0.3 - Simple WebKit browser, now with Dashboard
just tested facebook, login works.
|
Re: Tear 0.3 - Simple WebKit browser, now with Dashboard
Myspace does now too.

Re: Tear 0.3 - Simple WebKit browser, now with Dashboard
Well, to ease installation for some people, I've thrown tear and libwebkit into my repository. I will gladly add bongo's bookmark package too, once he puts it into a .deb package.
Another benefit of this method is automatic alerts when Bundyo updates things (and I update my repository). Qole's repository: Web address: http://qole.org/repository Distribution: maemo Components: main http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3537/...318120b5_o.png |
Re: Tear 0.3 - Simple WebKit browser, now with Dashboard
Thank you qole, that was nice :)

There will be a deb next week. The manager is nealy done. Folder support is fully implemented and I'm working on the last gui details.

Re: Tear 0.3 - Simple WebKit browser, now with Dashboard
I set up a bug tracker at
http://bugs.bundyo.org/ If you want to help, transfer your bug requests there. I'll gather as many as possible, but now it is 4 in the morning so I'm going to sleep. |
Re: Tear 0.3 - Simple WebKit browser, now with Dashboard
bongo, want to send me the code before you make a deb package? Perhaps we could work together a bit on it, and I can implement your new features in the bookmark navigator plugin, then we can release a package with both your application and my navigator plugin? You can either send me a PM on the forums, IM me on AIM at TrueJournals, catch me on twitter @TrueJournals, or send me an e-mail... <my forum username>@gmail.com
|
Re: Tear 0.3 - Simple WebKit browser, now with Dashboard
Qole, maybe a dumb question, but if I add your repository now, will it still update all the tear related stuff even though they werent installed from your repository?

When you look at the last screenshots you can see the launched python file is called tear-bookmarks-example.py This is an example launcher for you TrueJournals so you know how to include my code into your plugin. There's a class which reads the database. Maybe you can drop some of your code and use my methods. So if we add support for microb bookmarks there won't be any work for you ;) My idea was to pack a prerelease deb so I'll get more user comments from itt but I can skip this step. |

Re: Tear 0.3 - Simple WebKit browser, now with Dashboard
Thanks for the repository. Out of interest, is there any particular reason why extras-devel wasn't chosen?

deb http://qole.maemobox.org/repository/ maemo main to /etc/apt/sources.list.d/hildon-application-manager.list and then apt-get update && apt-get nstall tear lead me to a lot of missing dependency. i resolved enabling extras-devel repository. thanks for your repo! |
Re: Tear 0.3 - Simple WebKit browser, now with Dashboard
Just a note; I don't have extras-devel enabled. extras-devel scares me a bit ;) I do, however have chinook extras and some other repositories, maybe they have the needed packages.
|
Re: Tear 0.3 - Simple WebKit browser, now with Dashboard
i guess thats a potential problem with extra-devel. you cant really say that you only want it to be used for a single app. at least not with the app manager gui (one could probably drill into the apt config guts and do all kinds of things).

if i try apt-get install tear libwebkit-1.0-1 i get libwebkit-1.0-1: Depends: libidn11 (>= 0.5.18) not installable so the missing package should be libidn11. if i enable extras-devel and apt-get install libidn11 i got installed libidn11 0.6.5-1 with no other package. so if libidn11 0.6.5-1 from extras-devel should be considered unsafe you could include a safe version of libidn11 (>=0.5.18) in your repo. what version of libidn11 do you have? |
Re: Tear 0.3 - Simple WebKit browser, now with Dashboard
I don't think there's any other libidn11 available anyway :)
|
Re: Tear 0.3 - Simple WebKit browser, now with Dashboard
Here's what my tablet says. I was right, I'm getting it from Chinook extras.
Code:
Qole-Deux:~# apt-cache policy libidn11EDIT: I've added the libidn11 package from Chinook extras to my repository, so you don't have to add extras-devel or chinook-extras. |

Re: Tear 0.3 - Simple WebKit browser, now with Dashboard
so i guess i could tell apt to pin everything from devel below whats from extra, exept for select apps?
|
Re: Tear 0.3 - Simple WebKit browser, now with Dashboard
i'm not so strong in apt-pinning, you could check this http://wiki.debian.org/AptPinning for further information.
you shouldn't need it anymore for tear |
Re: Tear 0.3 - Simple WebKit browser, now with Dashboard
I can confirm that the new version in my repository triggers an update notice for users of previous versions. Both libwebkit and tear show up as updatable when I add my repository to my secondary tablet, which was running an older version of tear.
So hurrah. |

Re: Tear 0.3 - Simple WebKit browser, now with Dashboard
Hey there, I must say I'm loving tear! I installed it today and am very happy using it as a replacement for microb. It's defitiny faster at rendering and I love the kinetic scrolling, very smooth to use once a page is loaded.. I just have noticed a couple things I'd like to politely inquire about.. Whenever I open a text field, it brings up the thumboard fine, but it always seems to paste whatever was last in the address bar for some reason.. A little annoying.. Also I often hide the address bar in full screen mode when using microb to make use of the entire screen space and am wondering if there is a way to do this in tear? Thanks so much for this project you're doing an awesome job and I'm loving it so far!
|
Re: Tear 0.3 - Simple WebKit browser, now with Dashboard
HI is the app completed to a workable standard or should i wait for confirmation--a faster browser is always a good thing-keep up the good work
|
Re: Tear 0.3 - Simple WebKit browser, now with Dashboard
Why don't you just try ? Thank to qole and his Tear repository it's now very easy, and it has no impact on microb, so you can have both... I find the latest version quite usable.
|
Re: Tear 0.3 - Simple WebKit browser, now with Dashboard
This browser is very workable. I use it as a replacement for most sites. Only a few issues with different sites here and there.
|
Re: Tear 0.3 - Simple WebKit browser, now with Dashboard
I cannot install tear nor its libraries.
What am I doing wrong ? As shown below I tried everything but no response only missing dependencies. Is there a clear manual how to install this ? Code:
pocketpenguin:/media/mmc2/download/Maemo-OS200x# dpkg -i tear-0.3-5.1_armel.deb Selecting previously deselected package tear. |
Re: Tear 0.3 - Simple WebKit browser, now with Dashboard
Use qole's repo.
|
Re: Tear 0.3 - Simple WebKit browser, now with Dashboard
skatebiker: if you add my repository (see a few posts back) it should install...
Just do an 'apt-get -f install' to pull in the dependencies. |
