I can boot into Mer now. But the FN key is still not working. :( And i've got the american key map instead of the german, in Maemo as well as in Mer. SO currently the tablet is unusable....

You should run xev in a terminal and it should give u a keycode once you press ur fn key. Then check ur keyboard mapping file and make sure that this keycode is assigned to Mode_switch. and then xmodmap your mapping file to make sure it works.

Dont get me wrong: i want the hardware keyboard (german layout) to work correctly again in Maemo. The installation of Mer f..ed up the settings for Maemo, too. Although german keyboard layout is set in the control panel i instead have an english layout with lots of keys not working. i dont want to fix it using xmodmap (which doesnt seem to be installed in maemo by default btw.) which would be a hack instead of a fix, instead i want it to be back to its original state without having to reflash my tablet ;)

[Edit] Great, i cant even reflash my N810 because I get an Authentication Error. Obviously reflashing from a Win2K isn't an Option

hold your breath version 8 will be released probably today it might fix your issues a litle patience.

Yes - it will, but we have postponed it until tomorrow. Image is fantastic so far, but we have some minor quirks we want to fix first before publishing it (Enter not working on on screen keyboard, and keyboard detection so enter works when there is a keyboard..)

Does it also support different hardware keyboard layouts than the english one? Because that seems to be my problem here. I dont get, why the layout is damaged in Maemo, too. Something in the bootloader perhaps?

branitar, why do you think Mer f*cked up your keyboard settings in Maemo?
I have installed mer over 30 times (seriously, i have) using imager or installer and nothing have ever happened to my maemo installation (i have finnish keyboard layout).

Because I cant use the FN key anymore, neither in Mer nor in Maemo, thus don't have any of the numbers or special keys like the slash, german special letters don't work either (but instead i get the stuff that usually is there on the english keyboard, like colons, dashes and stuff). Aaaaand it worked before i installed Mer. So I assume that the installation of the Bootloader and Mer might have something to do with it....

i was about to install mer but i taught i should wait and start with version8 to avoid upgrade issues how easy it is to upgrade versions

Even if Mer messed up your keyboard shortcut a quick reflash of Maemo would fix it.
