Re: n810 vs ipod touch review
Having used both the N800 and iPhone and Touch I prefer the iPhone and Touch, much nicer UI, better selection of apps, and more responsive touch interface. Biggest downside of iPhone and Touch is the lack of Flash support and ability to multitask. But overall I've pretty much stopped using the N800 since getting the iPhone.

Re: n810 vs ipod touch review
It wouldn't be charity. Charity is when you give something to someone in need. A way of helping someone who has no means to help themselves. Some people think that it is a sham, and that a lot of the money gets spent paying the workers of said charity. But the child I sponsor in Ethiopia gets almost every penny I send. I know because I have done my research and know people who work for the organization. People are much too attached to their money and things. I don't need, just want, especially if it is just gathering dust.
Anyway, back on subject I think what the video shows is valid. I have used both as well and I am much happier with what the n800 can do. At first i missed the UI of the ipod, but soon that disappeared because it forced me to actually use my device rather than spend all my time playing with how cool the ui was. As far as better selection of apps, that depends on your viewpoint. Yes the ipod does have very useful apps such as a farting app, a dice app, even an app that makes it so you can manipulate a woman's breasts on a photo by shaking your ipod. If this community was more mature then maybe it could make some of these apps, but they seem to spend all their time on immature beta software that does stuff like browse the internet faster (tear anyone?) and then they give away for free. Someday nokia and this community will catch up. |

Re: n810 vs ipod touch review
Personally i like it when I-Touch users ask what's "that" in my hand?
"Its a 16gb Touchscreen media player that'll play pretty much any format of audio or video with GPS, Camera, Bluetooth DUN , REAL keyboard and a shedload of free apps that can be run in multitask. Oh, and it cost 1/3rd of what you paid for yours.... ...what you got?" :p |

The N8xx are nice devices but far from perfect. No one device is perfect, they all have areas they excel in, the iPhone and Touch are no different. All comes down to how you want to use it. For the typical not super techy user, I think the N8xx is a bit too much to take on, it requires tweaking to get workign right IMHO. The iPhone ofers out of the box ease of use for most, and the cost of flexibility. Its biggest weakness in my view is the lack of multitasking. |
Re: n810 vs ipod touch review
This is like the old argument of Linux vs Windows...
You've got something that's secure, functional, versatile, and cheap compared to something Pretty, Popular, Restricted and Expensive. Nobody will ever win... the one side wants to justify being cheap, the other side wants to justify why they spent their childs college education on a toy... That's my take anyway... These devices appeal to completely different people. |
