Well at the risk of getting back on topic. console-tools may be an option. Although I have not tested it, nor am I sure if it would work. If you install a fresh OS flash and then take a full backup and save it. When the next OS version comes out you take an incremental backup. You then upgrade the tablet and then lay back down only the incremental.
I guess it depends also what has been upgraded in the OS release. I will do some playing with next version.. |

Re: How can I NOT re-download, and re-install BAZILLION apps EACH TIME I reflash?
Hey Fatalsaint, or anyone willing to help a noob out!..
I've installed a few applications now BUT annoyingly i can't see ANY .deb packages in /var/cache/apt/archives I've checked in Ubuntu on another computer and indeed there are LOADS of debs there.. but on the n810 with maemo OS2008 36-5 i find none... My knowledge of manual searching from the terminal is limited, so PLEASE if anyone knows if and where maemo stores the .deb installation files after one has downloaded and installed an app using Application Manager, I'd be truly thankful Cheers! |
Re: How can I NOT re-download, and re-install BAZILLION apps EACH TIME I reflash?
So I guess my question still remains:
How do I MANUALLY download all the deb files and dependencies I want.. Okay here in easier words perhaps: Picture this: You are about to embark on a trip for 6 months to live on top of a very isolated mountain. You will have ZERO possibility of connecting to the internet for the entire time you live there. The only thing to keep u company will be your n810 (& another computer for reflashing and extra storage) So, in order to keep your sanity you will play around with it as much as possible (having limited linux knowledge) HOW do you manually download all the apps you think you'll want to try out, so that u can play around with the OS and break it to learn about it, to your hearts content, and then reflash and install the apps by copying them to your SD card from the hard drive of the other computer... Capiche? Please let me know & i shall much appreciate it sirs! |

Please help? Note i've followed the instructions to leave the cache in & double checked it, so that is DEF not the problem |
