Mini vs Micro
Why does the minisdhc that is larger than the microsdhc have less storage capacity?
And what do I need to buy to make a 16gb microsdhc work in my 810? |

Re: Mini vs Micro
Use a microSD to miniSD adaptor. You should be able to find them for a few dollars (US) online.
Here's one I found on ebay. Good luck! YARR! }:^)~ CC, 80 proof |

Re: Mini vs Micro
If you have a Fry's electronics store around or want to order online it seems they offer a nice selection of 'kits' that include all the micro to mini adapters you need. I have found it is very handy to view my pictures from my camera by using a microsd in it (with an SD adapter) so I can view and edit them on my n810 while on the road. The speed increase is nice too!

Re: Mini vs Micro
I think I read in another thread somewhere that some of the memory card brands might not work with the n810. Heard anything like that?

Re: Mini vs Micro
just to note, some brands are sold with a converter in the pack.

Re: Mini vs Micro
will this work? http://www.antonline.com/p_SDC2-16GB-GP_594839.htm
And do they make 16 in higher classes than 2? |

No, all 16gbs are class 2, but get this one instead, it is half the price. |
Re: Mini vs Micro
that code was already in use so i entered my e-mail and got a new one but it said that the codes can no longer be used to purchase memory cards

Re: Mini vs Micro
Well, as a bit of history, Mini was the format that replaced SD in mobile products. Shortly afterwards, as devices got increasingly smaller, and internal space became more precious, microsd was created. Since MiniSD no longer had any use, the format was killed at I believe the 2gb size and no further updates were ever made, nor are they planned that I'm aware of, since almost nothing uses the format anymore. Thus you're best to just use a mini->micro adapter.
Oh, and btw. Those will be around for a while. However, I'd suggest stocking up on a few extras, as the adapters may soon become hard to find too since the format is dead. I may be wrong and the adapters may be around a very long time. However, recent history has shown that companies are very fond of obsolescing formats and throwing them aside for new ones once they're officially declared "dead". That's mostly for two reasons. The first is the need to discontinue production and eliminate stock of "dead" formats/devices/etc, and the second is to force users to upgrade to newer, more profitable devices and products. |
