I was referring to adding the maemo.org karma in the post header. In addition to there being two different accounts, there are two different karmas (if construed generically to include the post and thanked counts on iTT). Given the sensitivity, I think there is something to think about. Imagine the possible reaction of someone who has good karma on iTT, but then logs in one day to find a big fat zero "0" maemo.org karma added to the headers of their posts.

I think in some sense it might be an easier transition if done after the maemo.org website is "radically changed" and people can see the new user focus that's been mentioned:

Has there been a conclusion on whether iTT will be moved before the maemo.org website gets this radical change? at the same time? or after?

And can there be talk about Krisse's tutorials? Is school.maemo.org still a possiblity? I would hate to see those go to waste.

Merging accounts through different services is a goal easier said than done (e.g. is Wikipedia still requesting new registration for each WikiMedia project? and they are dealing with instances of a same tool, while in ITt+maemo.org there are 6-7 different tools to merge).

Ask Krisse (I did, and she didn't seem too motivated) or make a proposal in a more appropriate thread (either the old one or a new one).

Going back to the topic, though...

Have you scanned http://www.tabletscene.com/ recently? It looks like a combination of recent spam + old threads + unanswered question. Yes, there are some exceptions but worth the site? I would simply remove it and link back to ITt. Any newbie will be 1001 better treated here then there these days.

Also let's be realistic: who is maintaining the site? It was started by Reggie and Krisse. Reggie is currently busy as hell and able to put a little time only here in ITt. Krisse is out of the loop. My instinc tell me that they will be back when a new device is announced :) but... why should we tie the closure of tablet scene with that probability. We better ask them now (I will do it).

We can also start by deleting the sticly thread in the Newbie forum: A website for Internet Tablet newbies. If a newbie is confused, having a Newbie forum apparently addressed + a newbie different site recommended but apparently abandoned is not going to help.

OK, let's see, we have 3 "colors" there, a generic orange sort of thing, white, and a gray. Not exactly the most unique colorset to ever grace the web. . . . The maemo.org logo has been some variation of orange and black/gray since 2005, and glaubert's logo design he entered in the competition last year (which is what the new website design is based on) was based on that. So, no, unless you can place your site design as pre-2005 (and/or come up with something more compelling than one real color) it's not based on your design.

Thanks and post count aren't karmas, they're metrics used to calculate karma.

Clearly they need to add their itT profile to their maemo.org profile, then, and the "problem" will be solved.

It'll be at the same time or after. It's largely down to whenever Reggie finishes the new templates.

(I know this post wont be read by the poster I'm responding to, but hopefully other users will take something useful away from it)

Unfortunately it's not a matter of skill or ability but of time. Between the site redesign, the various individual application redesigns (Downloads, Mediawiki, GForge, etc.) and upgrades (Bugzilla), the Talk move, prepping for the Fremantle release (repository and autobuilder, Downloads, maemo.nokia.com integration, documentation import and deployment), and various Maemo SW-assigned tasks there just aren't enough free hours in a day to cover the significant time investment required to implement an SSO solution.

Now, Daniel Wilms (Quim's new technical counterpart) has been working on figuring out exactly what will be needed to implement SSO, which reduces some of the workload when it comes time to implement it, but it's taking a back seat to more important tasks for the time being. Volunteers are more than welcome to help out, though!

A) I did not say it was based on my design.
B) It isn't even my design. I based the colors off of a template found here
C) Who knows how long that template has been there, but I first saw it years ago.
D) I just put up my website about 3 days ago :D (but, admittedly, made it a few months back.)

Reading this thread has been like watching a soap opera, except no watching and just reading, and no love triangles just silly semantics . . . I guess it really just as much like a soap opera as this whole change is like XP and Vista.

Amen to that. But I guess I am more worried abut content rather than looks. This forum has been indispensable to me as an N800 owner. I may not have the 4 figure post counts that some people have but I have done a lot of research and found a lot of help on this site. Amidst all of the pessimism I just want to through out a ray of hope in that this coming transition will make the community here larger and more helpful to newcomers and people like myself.
