Re: DialCentral 0.9.0
I find the built in SIP client has the best processor usage to sound quality ratio. Its lightweight, always running, and has a very slick background processing. The IM/SIP app on the tablet is the best built in one, even better when you add AIM and Yahoo.

Re: DialCentral 0.9.0
I have now promoted 0.9.7.
This release includes * Browsing Voicemail transcripts and SMS conversations * The ability to send SMS messages * Tracking of callback number, username, and password in a settings file (slightly obfuscated) Notes Before, the recent tab would auto-refresh after calls and after X time would auto-refresh. All tabs (recent, messages, contacts) now require forcing a refresh through "View"->"Refresh" Though it remembers username and passwords, the session with Google Voice still times out. I plan to fix this in the next release. |
Re: DialCentral 0.9.0
Thanks a lot, the sms function works just great. Any time to put this program for 770 also?

It used to work a year ago before I bought my n810. Unfortunately I did a router firmware upgrade hoping to fix an issue. Instead the issue wasn't fixed, its more buggy now, and my 770 can't connect to it which pretty cuts off my doing 770 work until I eventually replace my router (can't find a copy of an older firmware image). |
Re: DialCentral 0.9.0
Thanks epage for the SMS functionality. Though is refreshing automatic or manual?
Edit: Read the earlier posts. So it's manual for now. |
Re: DialCentral 0.9.0
The sms function is great, but, in the next release would be possible to:
1. better differentiate between conversations in the message tab? 2. as well as having auto refresh as mentioned, could you make it check for new sms in the backgroud when dialcentral isnt open....basically have a setting like email ....check every X ammount of minutes and play a sound when received? |

2. I've been very hesitant to add SMS to DialCentral (obviously). Not being a heavy SMS user I do not feel qualified or motivated to develop what people would want in SMS functionality, but instead added a simplified form of it. This is one of the reasons behind the manual refreshes. One of the main reasons i did add SMS, is that it simplifies someones job if they want to do these things. A developer could grab "gv_backend.py" and develop what they see as the killer SMS app. |
Re: DialCentral 0.9.0
Thanks epage for the SMS . For next release can u add send/receive Date? It show time only. thank u once again for u great work. I paid $200 for my table now with this app it cost $500. ...lol

Re: DialCentral 0.9.0
Just a question
DialCentral has not worked for me for some time. In the most recent version, I am able to see contacts and messages (have not tested sms), but can not make a call. I verify that my setup is working because I can go to the browser and make a call, and the SIP client rings on the tablet. So, how do I find out why dialcentral is not initiating the call? |
Re: DialCentral 0.9.0
I had to downgrade to 0.9.6 because I am still using Grandcentral and 0.9.7 doesn't seem to work with Grandcentral.
If you need to downgrade, gain root and type: Code:
apt-get install dialcentral=0.9.6-0 |
Re: DialCentral 0.9.0
I too tried to update to 9.7....installed the deb, and it installed successfully, but still shows 9.6 in the about in the app.

2. Its displaying relative date in the left column 3. I took the screenshots on my desktop where the font size is smaller. Its mostly usable with my n800 theme (I use the phone selection dialog to actually view the message, the messages tab is more for a refresher for me). The joy of a small screen device. Some options 1. Leave it as is 2. Remove some columns or cut down the amount of text in them 3. Instead of making Time/Person/Message in separate columns, make them separate rows. Any preferences? |
Re: DialCentral 0.9.0
Need some quick help here. Dialcentral has NOT been working for me for awhile. Today, I tried to log into my grandcentral account, failed. I went to my email, dig out an old old log message from grandcentral (BTW, there are quite many callers on the log message that are plain wrong, one of them even from a law firm that saying I have NOT been present in court....and give specific phone number, person name, .... scary, anybody notice similar episode?), thru the old message, I was able to log back into my grandcentral account use the same useracct and password that rejected me minutes ago. Weird! On DialCentral, my grandcentral account still failed to show up, so I cant dial out. And at the same time, grandcentral is asking for upgrade to googlevoice.
Question: 1) with all regards, i just want to use dialcentral, should I upgrade or should i wait. Would waiting kick me out eventually? googlevoice upgrade is NOW available that is what it said. 2) what can I do, in a simple language, to make my dialcentral work again? TIA, bun MMCboot on 4.2008.43-7 dialcentral 0.9.8 |

Re: DialCentral 0.9.0
love the progress. quick question. in the messages section is there any way you can display name instead of number. there are plenty of numbers in my phone book that i would not recognise and cant know who left it without cross referencing. Also to save a bit of room you can simply remove the words "ago" from the history. to me "call 10 hour" and "call 10 hours ago" are the same thing and small screen space saved for more important text. just some feed back from a daily user. keep the updates comming.
еее Not sure if it was on purpose or not but i do enjoy the mwnu on the left of the screen. its right where my thumb is, easy access. еее |

Re: DialCentral 0.9.0
Just discovered the SMS portion. Much better than using the Google SMS webpage. I know you didn't want to add it but I think it was a good add. One suggestion though. I'd like to be able to sms from the keypad. Could you add a "sms" button next to the "DIal" button?

Re: DialCentral 0.9.0
Hi, me again, still cannot make dialcentralwork.
google voice calling works with internet call and answer call without problem. Problem is to dial out. I looked under Account, now, after upgrade to googlevoice, my grancentral number is now showing up. below, there is a box saying clear account infor.... And then another box with Callback Number: What should i put in callback number? is that the 1747 gizmo5 number? A little bit history, it was working beautiful all the way 5/16/09. dial in and answer. It just stopped working with lately. I did also check my own step by step guide, everything setup was right for 0.9.1 version. My question, what has been changed since. TIA, TIA, Edit: WORKING :-) Problem is the upgrade, I guess it takes time to upgrade to googlevoice, something like 4-8 hrs. After upgrade to googlevoice, you have to Clear the acct info, at least once, and check googlevoice when re-log in. And on the callbacknumber, that should be your gizmo5 1-747 number. And then you can do a test call. 1st test call will activate the googlevoice, which prompt you permission to use your googlevoice acct linked to sip phone. It then goes away for 5 min or so, now you can make the dial-out. I am pretty sure these 'common sense' manueavure are all embedded in the 148 posts since march. Thanks for the good apps and the hardworking codes, now i am calling..... :-) bun DC 0.9.8 mmcboot/n800/5.2008.43-7 |

Re: DialCentral 0.9.0
I am NOT done yet, sorry, now I cannot accepting incoming call. I am sure it is some simple setup, some of you can take me thru.
It rings and ask to press 1 to accept call or 4 to have chat service. It is my internetcall program that lights up and the DMTF dial pad is grey out. So 1) how can i get the dialcentral, instead of the built-in internetcall,to answer incoming call 2) where can i get the dial pad to press 1 or 4? TIA, bun |

As a sad note, DialCentral, not being a sip client, cannot have its dialpad used for this process. I've heard people complain about how long it takes to get to RTComms dialpad up. With my cell phone I've had the unfortunate experience lately of pressing "1" and it not recognizing it. I'm heading over to GoogleVoice to see about sending in feedback on that aspect. |

gizmo5 is the sip client

Re: DialCentral 0.9.0
Thanks for the shouting...., I think almighty may have heard you.
Getting close,..... Nothing to do with Gizmo5. Very easy, maybe. When the phone rings, click the blinking rectangle, it opens a chat page and, as simple as it is, you press 1 or 4 and click enter, it will send a dial tone of the number, and presto, you are connected! And it is almost impossible to do it without practice, it waits only 3 seconds before you accept the call, it will then automatically turns on the recording, the sip phone is unavailable, please leave a message...... Maybe I have to go googlevoice/setting to make the ring a little longer, but it is getting there :-) Now, it is close, but no cigar. It connected, and I can hear great quality communication from the tablet and the cellphone, but the cell phone side hears nothing. Well, I think it just takes a lot of tuning to get it working. I will continue play with it a little bit later, now, I have to cook dinner, my honey already complaint, that my affair with the tablet is much longer than my affair with her.....and she is NOT happy. Edit: Totally working, this time for real, and I promise to leave epage to have a very quiet/peaceful/calm weekend.........starting NOW! Apparantly due to the short ring time, one end connection is NOT good, if you answer call too late. So, what I did, this is hilarious, I would have the cellphone called once, and missed the call, but to leave the chat page open. then when the cellphone called the second time, i can press 1 right away, without having to wait for the chat page to show up, this one I caught it in time, had a successful 2 way communication of the tablet and the cellphone. Kind of wonder, why all 148 posts, does not seem to have this problem. Now, the last step, probably is go to the PC to have the googlevoice/setting put the ring a touch longer than 3 second, if there is such option bun |
Re: DialCentral 0.9.0
bun, log into your gizmo5 account and disable the answering system for gizmo5 . sounds like that is picking up for you. also I am using the built in sip client from Nokia. its still a pain to input the press 1 but you eventually get quick with it. try out the disable first if that doesnt work the internal sip client may be the next step.
epage you are the man. thanks for the constant updates. the 2hdw is more than enough and names with the messages are going to bring tears to my eyes. I can't thank u enough! |
Re: DialCentral 0.9.0
well, in order to make my honey use this thing called dialcentral, she wants to use 'contacts'. How can I get that? On 0.9.8, one of the blue square is call Contacts. You clicked it, it showed None/All Contacts/Google Voice, but there is none phone no. or name show up. How do I make a contact list in DC? I do have some contacts on GoogleVoice on the PC desktop and I also have some contacts on the Tablet under Menu>Communication>Contacts. How do I get it into DC? TIA,
bun |
Re: DialCentral 0.9.0
Open dialcentral, give it a few seconds to load the default # and contacts (or rather scrape them). You can tell it has done when the account section lists your callback #.
Go to contacts and then use the drop down to select Google Voice contacts. (or GrandCentral if you use that). The same contacts will show up from the web version (PC desktop version?) of Google Voice. No idea how to call people in the default contacts though. You can try adding them to a csv file but I've found that to be a headache (at least with Evolution). |
Re: DialCentral 0.9.0
Thanks, yes, it showed up after a couple of hrs of building contacts on the googlevoice/PC web site. And it now in Contacts of DC and my honey can click to dial. Mission completely accomplished. Thank you ALL.

9.8 this not remember Callback Number
I have to inter my callback number every time I start DialCentral 9.8. It remembers my username/password, Contacts and Recents. If I go to GC mobile web page my callback number is still set.
On N800 using GrandCentral not GoogleVoice. |
Re: DialCentral 0.9.0
I use to have to do that all the time (reselect my callback #) but with the latest version it seems to automatically stay on the one I want. So that works. I'm using Google Voice.
