first days with N800
if you are a brand new newbie like me, and know some of linux like me, I think you can follow:
0. come here: http://wiki.maemo.org/Category:Users 1. flash N800 do 0, and choose updating tablet firmware and follow the instructions. no sweat here. 2. become root do 0, click on root access. it is a piece of cake. 3. partition an SD card do 0, and click on partition a flash card, follow the instructions, but if you see this message which confused me a lot when you try to mount the partitions, use lsmod to check if what you want to install are already active: insmod: cannot insert '/mnt/initfs/lib/modules/2.6.21-omap1/mbcache.ko': File exists (-1):File Exists. 4. clone OS go to: http://www.internettablettalk.com/fo...ighlight=clone, start from step 8, or 6, if you have not partitioned SD yet. 5. USB control when I tried to install it from Maemo, it shows 'incompatible package'. so Do 0, click USB host mode, and use echo command to do it to be continued.... |

Re: first days with N800
#1. should have solved most connectivity problems. Try disabling flash and choose "minamalist" or "classic" from the drop down menu found in the lower left corner of a page when viewing this site...
Good luck :) |

Re: first days with N800
On the Private Message page that you will be viewing the message I am about to send you, if you scroll down to the bottom and look to the left you will see the drop down menu I spoke of. Choose the "Classic" or "Minimalistic" style and all ITT pages will be rendered with less style elements and as a result, will usually load faster.
To disable Shockwave flash; load the browser, press the menu key, touch "view", touch " Show toolbar", touch (whatever screen view you are in). When the toolbar loads, touch the the magnifying glass in the lower right, touch "components", touch "shockwave Flash to disable (or enable) it. |

USB Hub works fine with N800
SOLVED THE MYSTERY.
i borrowed a memory card reader and i can copy files, even large ones (>300M), from the card in the card reader to HD. I am pretty sure USB HUB works fine with N800. the problem was caused by my memory stick. i think it consumes too much of juice, and it happened my hub power supply is not enough to keep it on when reading data continuously from it, so it was turned off. default bootmenu issue
following steps to clone OS to card, but the default boot menu item is pointed to external card, not internal card. check /mnt/initfs/bootmenu.sh and find the itemid for internal card is 'immc2', so use command:
# chroot /mnt/initfs cal-tool --set-root-device ask:immc2 not # chroot /mnt/initfs cal-tool --set-root-device ask:mmc2 reboot and the problem is gone |
