Council Uniforms - design competition

Ok, we have a new council.

If you make it, by your own hand, I'll wear it - at least partially - at the summit ;-p

PS. Even Starfleet upgraded to some funky black/grey chunky things. PPS. Red == command ;-)

I think blue canvas overalls with our names on them would be perfect. Spandex doesn't have pockets; where do you put your tablets?

In your cape, of course!

New Council...

I want to know if the old Council received any bonuses from the bailout money?

BTW, a Beret should be worn with whatever uniform you decide on... IMHO :)

Re: Council Uniforms - design competition

Many many years ago it was suggested in Paris that the taxi drivers, as in so many other places, should wear uniforms.

The taxi drivers said NO, NO WAY.
It did not help.
The taxi drivers threatened to follow ALL traffic regulations.
>>The uniforms where conveniently forgotten.

( Paris traffic is NOT disciplined, total discipline would have brought everything to a stand still.)

Now I wonder, like the Cheshire cat might, what this might mean . . .

I carry my tablet in a leather belt-pouch, which is only a small part of my ever-growing bat-belt, which also includes a spare battery pack, and a holster containing my camera, phone, pen, keys, and LED pocket flashlight. If you're into that sort of stuff, look up the company called UrbanTool. I don't carry my multitool on my belt, however, because while it's really handy, looking like you're carrying a knife around generally isn't a good way to go :P

I do think they should get uniforms, but not spandex...

Even spandex (and maybe even bacon) might fit looser than the skinny-fit T-shirts we got at the last Summit. :p

Or try for something more sensational . . .

at http://www.spreadshirt.net/en/EU/Cre...-your-own--59/

I'm afraid i have no suggestion on virtual uniforms . . .

How about some classy maemo.org-embroidered polos for the council? ;)

just don't try and make the uniforms too cheap and thin:

not safe for work version:

And , yes , . . . this could be the official drink at the council.

( It comes in other flavours too.)

I'll drag this thread back up.

we are going to copenhagen soon and I believe at least some of the council are gonna be there.

and we mere mortals need sensible attire as well.

Well obviously the uniforms would have to be in the spirit of open source free content, so here goes:

Can I just say I was NOT trying to have a go at GA with my previous post. :-)

(Star Wreck is a free-of-charge film distributed under CC licence, that was all I was getting at...)

Re: Council Uniforms - design competition

krisse, I wasn't trying to get at anyone either

the pic of quim with the googly eyes was the first thing I tried to find, but on all shots his chin is cut off.
I wanted to see how one of our official representatives would look in a proper uniform :D

Re: Council Uniforms - design competition

Seriously ? A uniform ?
You mean ... like prisoners ?

What a strange community ... Do you really want to erase individuality ?
... PREPARE - TO - BE - ASSIMILATED ... (Borg style, please)
For a french guy like me, uniform ... smells bad, really bad ...

As GeneralAntilles suggested, something simple would maybe be better. And what about a nice pin instead of a uniform ? Here is a good exemple :
http://startrekclubs.com/images/compin.gif

Anyway, spandex would be nice, only on cute guys ... and only if their sole uniform is a (spandex) boxer ... with a rainbow colored belt ... but where to put the pin ??? ...
(And please, never wear socks with sandals or any open shoes)

Re: Council Uniforms - design competition

Heh, how about the 770 outer shell as a chest pin?

fms 2009-05-11 09:39

Re: Council Uniforms - design competition

I suggest orange pants, round green hat, and a white shirt covered in Maemo Marketing slogans printed in 5-10 different fonts. This way the uniform will be consistent with the new and improved maemo.org design.

benny1967,
whilst I am blinded and can't see anything, I recall seeing something equally disturbing, but which has group capabilities.
