Re: Which IT device do you own?
I've just got a n800. I had a 770 until it WSoD'd on me, and Nokia exchanged it for the n800 :D I'll probably get, or at least look at getting, the next tablet when it's released.
|
Re: Which IT device do you own?
None, but I'm trying desperately to change that fact!
YARR! }:^)~ C/\pt'n |
Re: Which IT device do you own?
I have the N810, and I'll be considering the new device when its released.
|
Re: Which IT device do you own?
n800. Looking at the next device, if it's affordable to me then I might get it (I hope it has SDHC support!)
|
Re: Which IT device do you own?
a N800 and a paperweight in the shape of a 770...
|
Re: Which IT device do you own?
Wow. The n800's winning. I though for sure more people would have the n810. Lately every single newbie post seems to be talking about the n810.

Re: Which IT device do you own?
N800, it's a "classic"
|
Re: Which IT device do you own?
i suspect most veteran of the forum has a N800, and have learned to love the dual SD slots ;)

Re: Which IT device do you own?
Haha! I tied the N810 with the N800! So now it is 26 vs 26. Take that old school. :)
|
Re: Which IT device do you own?
N800. The lower price under the N810 and dual SD slots made it an easy choice.
|
Re: Which IT device do you own?
My vote didn't do much to change the balance (27-27) as I bought a n800 new in Canada (tiger direct) and then got a great deal on an n810 on ebay.

Re: Which IT device do you own?
Now wait a minute...
http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3637/...ab671e3d_o.png There's something wrong with these percentages... :P I can only assume this happens because people can vote on multiple items? |
Re: Which IT device do you own?
But that would just mean they would own both. And there are people here who have more then one.
|
Re: Which IT device do you own?
I have both! But I'm selling my 810. I love it, but it's got more resale value, and I like my 800 just fine, too.
|
Re: Which IT device do you own?
All of them, of course, but N810s are the most actively used devices by me and my wife.
|
Re: Which IT device do you own?
I have N800 and 770. Currently writing this in Tear on my 770. :D I will get the next device when it comes out.
|
Re: Which IT device do you own?
Dual, proper (full-size) SD slots is what made me buy the N800, and that's why I'm getting a Pandora. Any new Nokia device will have to include dual full-size SD or I will not buy it. All my other devices use full-size SD and I'm now getting a video camera with full-size SD support (that's where those devices are going), so the demand for full-size SD is going _up_, not down.

Re: Which IT device do you own?
Who needs cards when you have 32Gb onboard :P

Re: Which IT device do you own?
Instead, just take the sdhc card from the camera, plug it into the external sd slot. Easier, faster, no cables, and very practical.
|
Re: Which IT device do you own?
there's no "instead". there's no way to get images from my camera to the N800 except taking the SD card out and putting it into the N800.

Re: Which IT device do you own?
I have an N810 and an N800, I use the N810 most days I move around with it in my bag or pocket. The N800 has become a music streaming station/Skype and Dialcentral client. I will buy the new tablet when it comes out.
I am holding off on buying a new S60 device to see if the RX-51 can be my mobile phone. That's also why I'm praying these rumors of a larger tablet die away and we get a smaller one. |

Re: Which IT device do you own?
With the single question - how much bigger would you let the device get ? With a DSLR or a video cam, the size difference of SD vs microSD doesn't matter. At anything that is supposed to go into your pocket, it does. That's why you don't see too many phones sporting full sized SD cards (no matter how big they are), even though they should, based on your argument. So it's really about choice, for one person's usage pattern one might be advantageous, for anothers, some other layout would be good. I vote 2 microSD over 1 SD (so I could copy stuff), but then again, nobody asked :)

Re: Which IT device do you own?
Now we gotta start a new poll: what memory options should the rx-51 have?

The problem in understanding in general seems to be between 1. those who think of the Nokia tablet as an isolated device, where only its "own" needs matter, and 2. those who use the Nokia tablet as a central interchange point for a bunch of other devices. Nokia as a company tends to think the first way (the exception being the lucid folks behind the N800), presumably because they make phones: You install a card, whatever type, and that's it. No interoperability needed. That's fine for some, but not for others. Thus this discussion comes up time and again. So, the N800 is the IT device I currently own, because of the dual SD full-size slots. I'm very curious about what the RX-51 will have when it arrives. |

I would like the next tablet to be slightly larger if necessary to have full size SD card slot (and of course larger display is always wanted). |
Re: Which IT device do you own?
I really doubt that RX-51 will have fullsized SD, cause it's rather big for a pocketable device with such high "technology-per-inch" score. I think it would be nicer to spend available space on the battery, than on fullsized SD. I have CF in my camera but I don't ask anyone to build it into the device cause I'd better see good USB-Host implementation to transfer data from any device I want, not only Sd, ms, cf, or xD.
