Mistery of the stone

No, it is not another book by A.Christie. It is about Ruby.

There is some kind of bad karma around ruby-maemo combination. The interpreter itself is not in the extras repo - it is hosted on rubyx.co.uk. It means that no ruby-based package cannot be uploaded to extras - it just won't build (I tried).

The source code of ruby-hildon binding is not available anywhere (there were people looking for it already - no answer).

And, finally, no visible public activity.

Does anybody know how to contact Tom Swindell? I would love to get in touch with him, may be I could help in moving things to extras...

Thanks.

He's known as "alterego" on the #maemo IRC channel.

I suggest you forget about Ruby and move on.

I pretty much agree. It is one scripting language too many.

Everything above assembly is just too high level and makes stuff annoyingly simpler :(

Just for the record, there was a statement on IRC that ruby is going to appear in extras quite soon. Hurray!

If it's written on irc then it must be true.

Yes, I read that and I'm now 100 % sure it will happen.

Oh snap! I got this all wrong. There's no mention of the year for this sunday, so I figured it would be the following sunday :( Stupid me.

I got tired of that. Going public:

My blog is visible on planet.freedesktop.org and planet.gnome.org. I would appreciate if anyone blogging on planet.maemo.org would give a reference.

Sorry to see that, but can't say I didn't see that coming. But thanks for the effort.

Even at that point I did not argue, and even less I'd do that today. Now, the $1000 question is who would be able to redo that work...
