Nokia 770 Now Available in Europe
Quote:

Cool... hopefully the USA is soon...I wonder when they will update the Nokia Europe website? It still indicates "coming soon"..
|
Darn it! I KNEW the U.S. should have joined the EU!
|
I wish I had a visa. :(
|
On the way
Just placed an order. I hope I'm not going to regret thjis :o

Same here. Ordered at 19:11 and order open. Didn't go for the express delivery because I suspect it won't be a saturday delivery.
|
I'd caution buying it from EU if you're from overseas like I am (Canada). The duty on something that expensive is likely to be pretty hefty.
If anyone gave in (and believe me, I'm tempted right now), can you tell me how much the duty came to? (US or Canada, I just want to get a rough idea) |
Come On, Nokia USA - Let Us Join the Fun Too!
I'm ready to order 2 or 3 of them for our stateside use so our developers/designers can start playing around creating something interesting for elearning/mlearning customers! Our many months of anticipation will finally be satisfied soon!

Actually it doesn't seem to be available in all 12 european countries listed on that page : Austria, Germany and France have the "not in stock" mention. And of course I live in one of those :-)
|
So, the feeding frenzy begins. At least overseas.
At the moment, I could use a 770. Am at CompUSA accessing the net on one of their AOL demo notebooks! I could've been relaxing in Bryant Park doing this (which is where I was an hour ago, WiFi-less & 770-less!). Ah well. Maybe next time! |
Andy: Another slight kink - - the country seems to be hardcoded. Looks like no shipping outside designated areas.
Also, what's up with the UK price? Once currency conversion is done it's a tonne more. |

Is that the price you get, pre tax? |
Order Placed
Wow I wasn't expecting this news when I got to work and checked ITT as usual!
Having tried to get to the order site from nokia.com or nokia.co.uk I realised I had to read the posting properly and followed the link to Nokia direct. It's slightly more expensive than I was hoping for £200 would have been a lot better, but hey the anticipation is almost unbearable and I've placed my order with express delivery of course - patience is an alien concept. Look forward to receiving it soon - I guess that as express states 1 day delivery it means I won't get it until Monday - it almost makes me want to take the day off work to play! I'll post pictures when I get it. BTW to check order status, use the order link in the original post and the order tracking link is at the top right of the ordering page - enter your email address and order number to check. |
Loving it! Loving it!
What a nice way to brighten up a dull day. All ordered, I hope it arrives tomorrow but I am betting that it will take some time. Let the race begin to upload those photos!!!! |
Where did you guys order?
Have you ordered the 770 from the Nokia site? I really want to order one of these units ;)
Ooops, just found the link :) |
Extra bits & pieces
Also ordered a 512MB RS-MMC card from www.expansys.com - they do next day delivery for £2.95.
The card costs about £27 1GB cards are 3 times this price which seems rather unfair. |

Yes, I have to admit this is slightly more expensive than I expected. Still ordering one though ;)
|
Price drop?
What do you think about a price drop in a few months?
I'm very interested on buy one, but for us, spaniards, 349€ is much money. Our average salary is about 1500€/month, much less than UK, Germany & almost all rich EU countries. Actually, my salary is less than the half of that as computer technician. I think Nokia & most multinationals must consider that. I'm thinking on wait to the release on United States to buy one for 350 "bucks" as $350 = 290€ PD: Anyone has a job for me on a "real" EU country? |
Shipped
Well it's been shipped. :)

I don't mean to hijack this thread, but I just want to confirm because I know Nokia sells RSMMC cards - - any RSMMC cards will work, they're not proprietary right?
|
For anyone outside of Europe or the US - - we're out of luck. I guess due to the nature of cellular phones, Nokia's locked down all the shipping to the countries specified.

Checked on the UPS website for the guaranteed dates for the "UPS Express Saver" and it's guaranteed delivery before close-of-business on Monday. I'll be in the office... uh-oh, just realised the reason I was coming in to the office has been cancelled. Hmm. Damn. Will have to try and swing by to pick it up! :-/ |

Well mine has shipped by UPS (to the UK) not sure where from (does anyone know?), and doubt it will arrive now until Monday.....
Seriously considering taking Monday off to get first play!!! ;) |

Now received email confirmation from Nokia it's shipped and a PDF invoice. |
"Shipped"! Oh, my! What a wonderful word.
I hope I become acquainted with that word soon. |
...and now it's shown up on the UPS tracker as currently being in Belgium.
|
Hmm, UPS tracker hasn't moved since Friday night when it was scanned into customs - hope it's still going to get here tomorrow - has anyone's status changed to show the parcel in the UK?

Mine too is still in Belgium :(
But according to my wife who works for a company that deals with UPS a lot, the next scan should be Monday morning at 9 am. |
Nov 7, 2005 5:08 A.M. OUT FOR DELIVERY :D
|
Excellent - so's mine - booking afternoon off and partner waiting at home for package!!!
Thanks for the tip Henry - I'd have been climbing the walls wondering why it wasn't moving sooner! The race is on to get the first 'non-discount' 770 pics on the gallery! (think I need to get out more!) |
