Who dat MAC ?
As some of you might be aware I'm in the process of making a kitchensink converter which, among other things, is able to detect the tablet capabilities and so make life a little easier. Without much ado, I'd like to ask you for the FIRST FOUR bytes of your WiFi and BT Mac. Also, be sure to list which NIT do you have as that's the point of the whole exercise.
DO NOT POST THE WHOLE MAC ADDRESS. THE FIRST FOUR GROUPS WILL DO. My device has, for example: N810, WLAN 00:1D:6E:9B:xx:xx, BT 00:1D:6E:9D:xx:xx If you don't know your MAC, you can find it in at least three places: a) control panel -> about b) console -> ifconfig wlan0 (it's the HWaddr) c) below the battery on the motherboard PS If you happen to know the all the MAC ranges for NITs or where this info would be available, please let me know. Ranges reported so far (the europe/usa part is just my guess based on your locations): Wifi: N810 00 : 1D : 6E : 9B/9C :xx:xx - Europe N810 00 : 1D : 6E : D5 :xx:xx - USA N800 00 : 19 : 4F : D4/D5 :xx:xx - USA N800 00 : 19 : 4F : 9E :xx:xx - Europe 770 00 : 14 : A7: FA :xx:xx BT: N810 00 : 1D : 6E : 9D :xx:xx - Europe N810 00 : 1D : 6E : D9 :xx:xx - USA N800 00 : 19 : 4F : DB :xx:xx - USA (GeraldKo's D8 might be a typo of this one?) N800 00 : 19 : 4F : A4 :xx:xx - Europe N800 00 : 19 : 4F : A5 :xx:xx - Europe 770 00 : 12 : 37 : 33 :xx:xx 770 00 : 12 : D1 : 8E :xx:xx |

Hmm... I smell a ban coming. There should be a 'Boo' rating (opposite of thanks) so that the community can automatically silent spam posts and trolls. For example, after 50 Boos, and the post is dimmed, minimised, or simply eliminated. Sorry to hijack your thread Mr. 77. I'm looking forward to hearing developments of this 'Kitchen Sink Converter' (I love the term). Lead on... YARR! }:^)~ Thanks! Corrupt |
Re: Who dat MAC ?
I have a n800 -- WLAN: 00:19:4F:D5:XX:XX, Bluetooth: 00:19:4F:DB:XX:XX
So, it seems that n800 is in the WLAN range 00:19:4F:D5:00:00 to 00:19:4F:D5:FF:FF, and bluetooth range 00:19:4F:DB:00:00 to 00:19:4F:DB:FF:FF P.S. Look! In the "advanced" reply page! There's a "Disable smilies" option! |

PS. The manufacturing batch and/or country might also influence this. Mine is from the UK, debernardis has the same range and from location he's in Italy, Thesandlord seems to have a different range in California... That's why it's so much fun discovering these ranges via user input :) |

Re: Who dat MAC ?
Isn't there a kind soul with a 770 to chime in ? We're on good track with the N810 and N800, but don't have a single 770 MAC :(
@GA: Odd, no reports from that range yet, seems to be 9B for Europe and D5 for North America, but still not enough reports for final conclusions. BT is also important as AFAIK that's the MAC to be seen if you use PAN. |
Re: Who dat MAC ?
British N800:

Re: Who dat MAC ?
Interesting. My newer N800 has a slightly different MAC address from the other US ones (D4 as opposed to D5):
The N800 I got used from a guy in Seattle: Code:

Re: Who dat MAC ?
Mac adress space splitting at ieee. Not as detailed as which device has what MAC but still interesting.
