Favourite radio channels for the 770?

Accuradio Hitkast is OK, but I would like to try others too...

Where can I find more? What are your favourites?

Streamtuner may help you
https://garage.maemo.org/projects/streamtuner/

It's still beta but it's usable and usefull to find and play good radio channels on the fly.

I have downloaded streamtuner: thanks for the advice!

The streams are listed, but none plays.

What am I doing wrong?

It is my understanding that from version 0.99.99-4, StreamTuner REQUIRES mplayer to be installed. mplayer can be found via https://garage.maemo.org/projects/mplayer/

I have installed mplayer and version 0.99.99-6 of StreamTuner today and everything is working just fine.

Make sure you read between the lines for both products as I found that they both require a small amount of under the hood setting up using Xterm in user mode. (No need for root access, however)

PS StreamTuner does indeed provide a large number of Internet radio stations for playback. ;)

Thank you MikeL.

I went to the url you provided. I also googled 770 mplayer. But I had no luck - I found no installable version of mplayer.

Could you or anyone help further? Where can I find mplayer in an installable version?

Thank you all...

Mplayer link is also in garage

If installable mean .deb package for you. There is no package of mplayer for nokia 770 yet. But the binary provide by the link above is easily "installable".
Just decompress it and put it in your document folder so that Streamtuner can use it.

Don't forget, 3pm LITE is good for getting mp3s. :D

Thank you for the further advice.

I have installed mplayer. I have copied it into usr/bin, and I have tried it: it works ( I get all kinds of messages when I launch it).

I start Streamtuner again: and still no sound... ( When I put mplayer in the documents folder, Streamtuner complains about not finding it...), when it is in usr/bin there are no complaints, just no sound...

Can anyone pls. tell what is going wrong?

Thank you!

I have mplayer unpacked and started from and in /home/user/MyDocs/.documents as this is my current understanding of where streamtuner expects mplayer to be, is this location the same as usr/bin ?

Modified extract from StreamTuner page IMPORTANT : 0.99.99-4 (And up) need mplayer binary for nokia770 (garage version) to be present in your Documents folder. (On the nokia 770 device)

If this is not the issue perhaps your problem will be better addressed in the maemo garage for streamtuner i.e. the by submitting a bug in the bugs section?

New version of Streamtuner

Streamtuner (maemo port) is now very easy to install.
Download it here :
https://garage.maemo.org/projects/streamtuner/
Screenshot here :

You just have to install mplayer package before Streamtuner package
https://garage.maemo.org/projects/mplayer/

Try it and enjoy thousand of radio channels :)

SInce yesterday, it's more and more easier:
Mplayer has a graphical interface (GUI) and is very easy to install and for streamtuner as easy as newca12b wrote. ;)
Very useful with hundreds of radios

The VideoPlayer application on the Nokia 770 supports streaming of audio. The application works very well and you can easily listen to Internet radio broadcast on the Nokia 770. *IF* you know the URL that is.

The main obstacle for me, and probably many more Nokia 770 users, is that I don't have the URL to various radio stations and therefore not use this feature that much.

The linked article is for Internet radio on Nokia E series phones but the 64 pointer files also work with the Nokia 770 Video Player.

I've also been compiling a list of Nokia-770 compatible radio stations, at my (tiny, ugly) site www.radioten.com - doesn't cover so many UK locals as the lists you mentioned but is more global (can also be read easily in the 770 without zooming, so no need to copy the links locally).

For anybody who has installed mplayer, do any of the realaudio radio links I've listed as "broken" on my site work in mplayer but not in the video player? Does it understand .smil files?
