2. Is it just me, or does the update process overwrite one's userstyles.css file? If so, a warning to those who'll need to make a backup copy...

Completely forgot about that one.

tear also need to have history and bookmarks build in. Not so much the history but the bookmarks definitely. I know there is bookmark app but, it be nice if it was build in. And I second the password thing.

Re: Tear 0.3.1 - a would be beta WebKit based browser

One thing I miss in the new version is not having all bookmarks displayed when I pop up the main menu : as I have few enough, this has never been a problem for me, but I use them all the time, and the bookmarks submenu means an extra tap. Could it maybe be made optional... some day ? :-)

Re: Tear 0.3.1 - a would be beta WebKit based browser

/me votes for being able to save new bookmarks in the standard 'bookmarks' app, so that they are available to both browsers, microb and tear.

Am I the only one that is noticing that Tear takes up quite a bit of memory? Am I the only one who thinks this has a negative effect on battery life? I like tear but if it's going to suck battery I'm going to have to stop using it. I regularly have 3 out of 4 bars shaded when tear is active and now I get quite a few out of memory messages. I'm booted from an SD card.

Bundyo Where is the thumb option?.. I don't see it or maybe i'm blind ..

Hmm, I think the update has also broken xiojason's script that lets Tear handle URL windows normally handled by MicroB (e.g. standard bookmarks folder handled by MicroB, Mauku links, etc..). Can anyone else confirm? I've tried a reboot also.

Confirmed. This is a big problem for my use of Tear :(

Glad the bug tracker site is working normally again! BTW, I'm in the process of updating the wiki page to reflect the new version.

Are you sure it is tear and not your battery? Lithum batteries capacity declines over time whether you use them or not. Try switching out batteries and shutting down other non-useful apps. You don't need browserd when using tear right? So shut that down, boingo, anything else not needed.

Released 0.3.5-2, changes on the front page. Qole will probably update shortly.

Well I'm sure my battery is old, but still that doesn't explain why tear is eating memory. Seriously 3 bars in the status bar applet. The built in browser registers 1.

Bundyo 2009-07-27 23:15

Re: Tear 0.3.1 - a would be beta WebKit based browser

The built-in browser is eating your memory while it is not running :) The browser core is in the browserd daemon.

So let me get this straight: Before I start Tear I have one dot on the status applet.

I start tear and use it, I get 3 bars on the status applet.

The reason for this is the browserd daemon?

How does this make sense?

I tried 0.3.5-2 on N810.
It falls when tap & hold, every time.

Tear 0.3.5-2 plus libwebkit 1.0-1 1.0-svn41137-13 are playing fine with xiojason's hack at present in my hands :)

I didn't say that Tear uses less memory, but that MicroB uses more than it seems.

libwebkit on my N810 was too old.

Oops, userstyles.css is not enabled by default - add its filename to its path in options.

When I launch Tear and it loads the user-defined home page (or tries to), the network still doesn't come up if it's off. Is this a problem outside Tear (d-bus etc.) ?

coredumb 2009-07-28 11:49

Re: Tear 0.3.1 - a would be beta WebKit based browser

When accessing some site (http://citibank.co.id, on "Express Login" link), the site did not show the login page, and said that Tear does not accept cookies. But when I hit the back-button, the login page shows up.
Anyone know why this is happened?

Probably they try to add cookies with js, which is currently not possible.

Both, I believe. At least -1. Does -2 say so in the About box ?

I just got an update from qole's repo but it still shows -1...

Quick way to check (looking at the first page): Does searching for a phrase not present on the page bring up a message telling you that the phrase was not found? If so, you have -2.

Thanks ! So I do have -2 (About box is one late :-), and I can confirm that loading the home page at launch does not bring up the network : neither Wifi nor BT (packet data), and on both tablets.

Full screen option is really nice though !

Loading which homepage at launch? Custom?

The latest Tear in the repo is great, Bundyo! I just wanted to say "Thanks" again :)

And, it seems to scroll much more smoothly without scrollbars, for some reason... Or maybe its a placebo... eh!

Please, keep up the amazing work!
