The Nokbook 770

Big blog post just now. This one really just speaks for itself:

The Nokbook 770 with additional power, USB host ports, and a keyboard!

Another note:
That keyboard starts with numlock and capslock lit. The numlock key doesn't fix that but hitting capslock twice clears both numlock and capslock. Odd huh?

MUCH better and more detailed video posted - now downloadable in Nokia 770 format too!

Thanks! I am already planning the next version with the upgrades discussed in my second video.

Very interesting. Would be really good to see some bigger cases come out designed like this...

One of the comments in my blog suggested that they wouldn't like to go through an airport with such a device. I think it'd be nice if Nokia themselves or a 3rd party accessory company came out with a keyboard/case that easily converted the 770 to notebook style computer.

it'd be nicer if it was self-contained, wasn't larger than the size of the 770 and had your usb host as well as a thumbboard.

Update: Every time I go to enter text while using that particular hub, the 770 crashes! zomg. OK I will try other hubs, It works fine with that keyboard using the old power injector.

Pardon me while I bang my head on my desk.

Make sure you test entering text in things other than the Google search home applet, e.g. Notes, X Terminal etc due to the known bug as mentioned in a comment in your blog.

thoughtfix 2006-08-23 22:44

Whoops. OK more testing to come.

thoughtfix 2006-08-25 07:09

Okay it won't stop crashing. The decision now is to either send it to Nokia or to have CompUSA exchange it on my instant exchange guarantee. Problems with both: http://thoughtfix.blogspot.com/2006/...-its-dead.html

thoughtfix 2006-08-27 23:44

Okay so it's replaced. http://thoughtfix.blogspot.com/2006/...6-version.html New unboxing pics!

Now I did get a few odd crashes once I replaced it. I figured the only major change was from a 512M SanDisk RS-MMC to a 1GB. I put the 512M back in and haven't had an odd crash yet. Any thoughts?

i have a sandisk 1 gb card that was giving me problems. i bought a card reader and reformatted it in windows. i haven't had any problems since then. good luck.
