Hell, no! You are victim of the marketing misinformation campaign and cannot even recognize a genuine leak when you see one.

Re: N900 specs revealed

Similarities:
- no DPAD
- 3 row x13 keyboard
- dual LED flash
- arrow key layout
- space bar layout

Differences:
- no sliding camera cover
- dimensions seem wrong compared to n97 (based on previous n900 info)

others?

Jaffa 2009-07-29 20:53

Re: N900 specs revealed

Difficult to tell the dimensions according to the previous Rover info (IIRC, RX-51 was rumoured to be shorter than the N97 but slightly thicker and wider).

Re: N900 specs revealed

Looks dumb.

There, happy?

I am guessing it is a new XpressMusic phone. Not a maemo device. Its WAYYYYY to small for a 480x800 screen.

Re: N900 specs revealed

Nokia branding logo indicated this device will be primarily used in portrait mode (logo on left had side) so I say no, this isn't it.

spock 2009-07-29 21:32

Re: N900 specs revealed

Yeah, probably not it I guess. The keyboard layout is just exactly what was showed in the MobileCrunch n900 renders, and that's why I thought it might be the same thing.

Speaking of n900, it's nearly the end of July -- I thought we were expecting an announcement this month?

In this image, it shows a stick with "Nokia N97 Mini", and it's clearly running S60: http://img.xatakamovil.com/2009/07/n...97-mini-01.jpg

Or maybe this IS the device that sprouted the N900 rumors (and thus fits all of the mock-ups and rumor info we've seen in the last few months) ... but is not a Maemo phone (ie. not actually an N900).

Or maybe some of the changes they've made for the new version of Maemo include screen rotation, and thus portrait mode is now supported. For a phone (Maemo or otherwise), I would expect a lot more portrait mode support.

Portrait mode exists in Fremantle; but it's not pervasive (or free), and most apps are still expected to be landscape. I'd expect any phone-type features to be using portrait (as you say), but everything else to pretty much be landscape.

Interesting that the photo yerga posted has the standard Nokia N-Series device label of a prototype: N00 (see this N810 prototype).

Thanks, that worked. Looks like Nokia was trying different keyboard styles for the N97.

No n-gage with no D-pad, so maybe x-series?

Looks like there is a stylus! The speakers are stereo and mounted similar to the ones in the n810.

Sorry i confused the stand with the stylus :o

The FCC image is an exact replica of the leak we saw in this thread. Look at the placement of the screen lock, audio jack and the speakers in the picture of the rover and the fcc id......... They match. So i assume that leak was bang on.

Here is the FCC Link to all documents..

Can't wait for this device, I'm praying for a 3G version on the 850/1900 bands but if not I will switch to T-Mobile, I was getting tired of ATT crappy customer service.

Dunno in general, but last time it was about a couple of months before general availability. The "Request for short term confidentiality" is for 90 days from the 15th of July which could mean we can have some just in time for the summit.

I looked at the SAR test report and it seems this support 3G only with 1700/2100MHz. GSM/EDGE support covers 850/900/1800/1900 frequency bands.

It seems this device is targeted to T-Mobile USA 3G network.

EDIT: I also found that it supports 3G at 900MHz as well. So European customers are pretty well covered with 3G support. :)

On the lower end of the device as seen on the diagram you see the following:

1. Speaker - the perforated one
2. Hardware screen lock
3. Audio jack

On the upper end;

1. Speaker
2. May be micro usb
3. I am not sure what the third one is

Then on the left side of the device:

1. power button in the center
2. zoom keys on the top
3. Power hole

Now compare with the image i posted in the thread. The lower end matches exactly.

Fremantle does have a full screen mode, it just has less to hide (just the title/status bar).

The specs state "This device has Voice-over-IP/Dual Transfer Mode capability for use at the ear."

Is this similar to the dual mode on say something like a N95, were you can select voip (internet calls) or regular calls and have it switch when your hooked to a wifi and even set it as the default mode of calling?

As far as i remember, t-mobile had something like this. With some of thier phones you could call in the vicinity of wifi and it automatically switches to wifi and transfers the call to gsm/3g when there is no wifi. Saves a lot of minutes but i am worried about the battery life.... especially with the smaller 1320 mah battery.

I guess I am not sure what is between the what is apparently the audio jack and the hardware screen lock...on the lower end of the device...when you zoom in on the diagram it appears to be protruding out from the device...

anyway good catch!

Not sure what you are talking about. But the kick stand seems to be way smaller than compared to the n810.

Any guesses about the hole like thing on the lower part of the upper edge of the diagram?

I think the protrusion you mention is the headphone jack. (Yes, the3.5mm jack is that big...)The smaller hole you see on the right may be microphone hole. On the most bottom right there is something that may be a stylus. Just zoom in a lot and you can see there is a notch on the right size that a fingernail should fit...
