Re: Themes for Maemo 2008
I don't believe it ... so few themes were made by users for our Tablets ?

Re: Themes for Maemo 2008
maybe there are more floating around in various places (i wouldn't know, i don't use themes on any device - except for the star trek themes of course), but i believe the above link is the only place where you'd find most of them together.

Re: Themes for Maemo 2008
Once I have a bit of time in the summer, I'm considering making an OS2008 theme. None of the existing ones really appealed to me, and LCARS messes with the applications too much. I won't make any promises yet though.

Re: Themes for Maemo 2008
Well, i'm sure that many people made themes already for themelves ...
It would be nice to make a place here to very simply share it together ... |
Re: Themes for Maemo 2008
Agreed. Though, the same can be said for a lot of the Maemo community. If Maemo were more popular, you'd probably have websites devoted just to themes...

Anyway, to answer your disbelief more adequately... Themes are rather complicated and time-demanding things to make -- aside from the need for a little artistic ability. And, most of the people who develop for tablets -- or even those who want to get a little deeper than just using the default apps and themes -- are not artists. So, if you're a tablet user who is an artist... And if you also have the ability to design and create meaningful iconography... Then you can download and alter the massive PSD (Photoshop) file that contains all of the tablet theme art. Once that's done, you've got to learn how to use the ThemeMaker application in order to convert the theme into an installable package. Of course, then there's the process of uploading it to Extras, etc. As you can see, there are a few barriers to easily creating a theme for the tablet. But, many have, so it's not impossible. ;) Tim |

I'd highly recommend Inkscape over Photoshop; vector graphics offer a lot of advantages for this type of work. Plus, Inkscape is freely available for Linux/Mac/Windows, and it's really easy to learn. Quote:

Re: Themes for Maemo 2008
THANKS VERY MUCH FOR ALL TIPS
They are warmly welcome. I tried Theme maker, it's easy to use, but to make a complete theme from scratch would be a Titan work ! For now, i just stick to modifing Nuvo Pearl ... One thing among all I would love to do is to find a way to make the background of GPE Summary completely transparent, and have white text for the appointments/todos. Anybody knows how to make that ? Is it possible (an legal) to get the PNG from stock themes that comes with the OS ? I like very much the default Echo and would like to use is as a base. |

Re: Themes for Maemo 2008
You can check out my theme hackers garage project as well. https://garage.maemo.org/projects/themehackers/ it has several of my themes on there some are not finished but they all work. Also you can upload thememaker themes to repository they just have to be non-free I believe
