Re: Seqretary PIM Suite
So what happens when a much liked application like this one gets 'abandoned' by the original creator? Is there some process where someone within the community picks it up? Unfortunately I am far from a developer myself.

Re: Seqretary PIM Suite
I haven't abandoned it. I have been spending time making sure the basics of the contacts application are right (uninteresting backend stuff like the storage and the vCard parser), but mostly life has interfered (I'm not a 19 year old university student with nothing else to do).
You can expect that when I'm adding a new significant application there will be a long time between updates. I do plan to make a minor release this weekend to address a couple of things raised here and one other aspect of the user interface I have found inconvenient, but the next major update is still a while off. |

A couple of questions about Seqretary functionality: 1. Is it possible to group Tasks/Contacts by a particular field as you would in Outlook/Korganizer (e.g. Category or Company)? 2. Are there any view filtering capabilities for Tasks/Events/Contacts similar to ones in Outlook/Korganizer (e.g. something as basic as a Category filter)? 3. SyncML or any other reliable and straightforward sync support? 4. Plans for Maemo 5 version? |

Re: Seqretary PIM Suite
Trollo: good to see you (and seqretary) are still alive! :)
I'm just about to install the latest update, and I look forward to the release of what's still in development. A few comments: - One issue I've noticed is that it is possible to create an event of such a short duration (e.g. one minute) that it is impossible to delete, due to zooming constraints. I did this without thinking, to essentially function as an alarm for a recurring event of negligeable duration, and now I'm left with a choice between putting up with it ringing every evening when I don't want it to, or scrapping my whole calendar and re-entering everything. That falls partially under PEBKAC (on my part), but I also feel that it's a bit of a usability problem for the application as well. I'm not sure what the best solution for that is (maybe put a sensible lower bound on duration (say, 5 minutes), and add an alarm feature), but something should probably be done when you have a chance. - If you have decided yet, are you planning on writing your own stand-alone todo system, or one based on (or synced with) an existing service? Judging by your work so far, I wouldn't be surprised if you had something unique and awesome up your sleeve, but if not, merely getting a good feature-complete and stable app out the door that syncs with, say, RTM (with local-only optional) would be awesome, and the more so for your excellent design and usability sense. |
Re: Seqretary PIM Suite
How has anyone been able to try this app? All the times I've tried from the download page I cannot get it to work, and the repository fails to refresh in App Mgr. I have not had these issues with any other app here, so I do not think it is something I'm doing (or not doing). Is there an alternate download method of which I am unaware?
