Is Buy.Com safe to buy from?
 

Any positive or negative experiences with buy.com ?

I'm considering placing an order for an N810 with them today....

I've ordered many items from buy.com and they've been great. I just ordered an N810 yesterday with the standard free shipping and got it today. I'm in the San Jose, CA area and it shipped from Fresno.

Funny, I ordered my N810 today..and I'm in San Jose as well (out at the Evergreen area).

I picked the 2-day shipping option...I'm sure that means I get it next week :)

Buy.com has great prices but dealing with returns is a nightmare. So much so that I will never use them again.

I've had good experience with Buy.com. Another good place, which I learned about from a site called InternetTabletTalk, is newegg.com.

Well, standard shipping claimed to be 5 - 9 days, they usually shipped in 1 - 2 days anyway.
You should try to apply for the credit card and get the 30$ credit to pay for the purchase (Application took less than 2 min). You can always cancel the credit card after getting your tablet and bring the cost down to $179.99 - $30 = $149.99

Never mind. Just got the information from them that they have cancelled my order since I don't have my Paypal address confirmed (moved in with my gf three months ago).

Getting tired of it all and may just not get one after all.

I got mine from buy, i used a prepaid visa card from tcf bank (don't know if they have those by you)

thats weird they cancelled cuz of ur paypal. can't you just change ur adress on paypal? i just moved a few months ago as well, and all i had to do was punch my new address into paypal, didn't need to do anything special.

re: buy shipping

when i ordered my kingston card, i picked regular shipping and got it in like 3 days... and i'm pretty sure it shipped from a far-off state.

Hey, well I'm only living with my girlfriend temporarily (I think... :)).
I think I MAY keep the one I got....he is going to send the missing items and if I get it working maybe give me a good deal.

Buy.com's return policy is just as average as any online vendor. The worst I ever encountered is 3rd party vendors from Amazon.com. Trust me, it is beyond imagination. Amazon.com's return policy is average, but their so called 3rd party vendor is .... just dont even think about return. Period. The first email you got from Amazon.com "We are sorry you are not satisfy.... Unfortunately, the vendor is OUR 3rd party vendor and we have NO control over them....We will try our best to help you." You got the picture! The problem is, unless you read carefully you would not suspect it is NOT from amazon.com, but it is one of their 3rd party vendor. You have been WARN.

Newegg.com is my favorite online vendor. They shipped the fastest and the refund/return has been NO question asked ever since I dealt with them. The return is online, you press a button, it generated a RMA and that is it. I did not recall a single moment I am NOT happy with them. Occasionally I do have problem with their merchandise, but never unhappy with the way they dealt with me. If newegg.com can do it, why other big online vendor cannot, buy.com, amazon.com? They choose NOT to.

Missing items? You got to be kidding! You mind to put his name here, so the community beware, or at least learn about him?
From your sig, apparantly you are still looking for a case. I highly recommend to get one. I cracked the screen of my Dell axim ($399 at that time), a PDA, when I leaned forward to the glove compartment to get something. My Dell in the shirt pocket pressed against the stering wheel and that is the end of the story for my $399 Dell and I am NOT that rich to forget about the lost.

Missing as in headset and I got a USB-to-Mini cable instead of the USB-to-Micro cable - which made it impossible for me to reflash it righ now. The guy seems nice about it though and we'll see what happens.

Darn! The guy must have picked up the cable of his N800! But in case you need something, shoot me an email and you can borrow my stuffs. I am in Evergreen area too (near Ruby!)
