Keep ALL your package materials, you may need them.

I got mine yesterday. It took forever to partition the internal SD the 1st time. After 1st partition, df = 9.1 % non-contiguous...., and upon repartiton, sfdisk, it crashed the tablet and resulted in reboot. Tried 20 times, same result.

Just got my RMA, will ship it off BACK to buy.com in the morning.

Just a warning, not every tablet has bad intSD..........I hope.

Edit: problem fixed. http://talk.maemo.org/showthread.php...ht=losing+data and thread #71

Thanks for the head's up. I keep all packing material for everything as I am a chronic flipper :) .

Knock on wood, every tablet I have had 1 770 and 3 n800's have all been solid.

I will be cautious.

Re: Darn you buy.com....

One N800 started to show its problem or I started to notice it now, mmc1 booting is N/A from bootmenu every other time, not random. when I see the N/A on bootmenu, I would power it off and power it on, the N/A will disappear. It is not my SD card, as I substitute with other SD, problem persisted. I wonder this is the same bug that mess up the ID of MMC1 and MMC2

The other N800 does NOT have this problem.

Not even sure I would even think of partitioning the internal 2 gig card until way later as a novice user. Could you give some easy step-by-steps that would help assess if the internal SD card have any issues?

Re: Darn you buy.com....

http://talk.maemo.org/showthread.php...ht=losing+data, (read thread #71) that was my problem, I sfdisk to the last bit of the intSD, and formed a "phantom" partition and since, the tablet kept on crashing upon attempting to access it, http://talk.maemo.org/showthread.php?t=29135, thread #18. I deleted the "phantom" partition via USB/PC/Disk Management and everything is now...................fine. Keep my fingers crossed.

Re: Darn you buy.com....

BTW, I saw you both posted several tablets and none of them have problems. My experience is not that rosy. I have 2 N800, both have the dumb power on problems. Two in a row, how lucky. Of course both solved with upgrade eventually, after sufferring for seemingly forever. Then one N800 developed display problem, the screen shown image rapidly fading from right to left, that required a return trip to Nokia. And my previous N810 has this intSD problem which I fixed in the past and forgot about it. And now this new N810 bite me with the same bug. One thing really puzzle me: most company will fix those product problems once they surface, be it a month or two, or maybe a bit longer. But even today, we still have people post about N800 power on problem and my two N810 is so far apart, close to 14 month, came with the same problem. What is going on with Nokia's mind?

Actually that problem somehow I figured a way to turn the N800 on: using the stylus and push it hard for 1 or 2 sec. It never failed me!

Interesting. I wrote a 'kindergarten' script to reset the tablet to bypass the mechanical switch and it seemed to be doing fine. Except when the battery is down.
