Pidgin And RTComm Problem
I normally use only pidgin for all my IMing and I use only the yahoo protocol. All of a sudden it just hangs when trying to connect and it never does...I deleted my account and started new and still no luck. I even made an account using rtcomm(which I hate using) anddoesnt log in there either...doesnt even show its icon in the drop down statusbar menu. Any ideas?

Re: Pidgin And RTComm Problem
Yes this is widespread. Itaffects all third party access to Yahoo. Adium, Trillian, Pidgin, etc. Yahoo Messenger works fine. Something Yahoo did.

Re: Pidgin And RTComm Problem
I found a solution....go to modify acounts, select your yahoo, click on the advanced tab and in the pager server field replace what is there with "cs101.msg.mud.yahoo.com" (without quotes" works for me....should work in other forms of pidgin and any other 3rd party clients that have a similar option.

Re: Pidgin And RTComm Problem
I have a fix! It's dirty, but works!
We can't amend hostname in RTComm from scs.msg.yahoo.com to cs101.msg.mud.yahoo.com, but we can spoof DNS... :D Add the following line to your /etc/hosts file (after making backup of course!!!) Code:
66.163.181.166 scs.msg.yahoo.com |
Re: Pidgin And RTComm Problem
