word processor for Nokia N810??

Yeah, i know about google docs, but the problem with that is that you need an internet connection to be able to use it. I want to be able to type papers and what not even when I don't have internet access. There might be some out there that are pretty good, but does anyone know if there are any as good as microsoft office?

Abiword is available. The latest beta in extras-devel looks better than the current 'stable' one in extras (see http://talk.maemo.org/showthread.php?t=29427), but if you're new to the Nokia tablet it might not be a good idea to jump into extras-devel straight away.

You can have the full openoffice.org suite, which is at least as good as microsoft office imho. Search the forum for "easy debian" and follow the instructions very carefully.

The openoffice.org suite sounds great! I was just wondering though, can you type something with openoffice and then put it on a computer and finish typing in microsoft word 2007?

it has to be in a .doc file format

does openoffice save in a .doc format?

Actually, 2007 now supports the OpenDocument format, so it should open up in Office 2007 directly. My OpenSpreadsheet opened up in Excel directly. :)

EDIT: Don't know if it's a separate plug in or not. I can't remember. If not and you can't open an OO.org Doc in 2007, there is an option to save as *.doc in OO.org when saving under "Save As" or on initial "Save".

The document? Of course. Just save it to your external card or internal card (external with a Card Reader, or both via the USB cable from N810 to PC) and save the document to whichever card you want. It's good for document writing on the go. :)

Best word processor for Nokia N810 ?
Right now, it's Abiword in Easy Debian.
A maemo port of Abiword is being done, but not very stable.
Open office is simply very very slow in the tablet. (it takes about 90 seconds just to start)

Search the forum how to install Easy debian, it should not be hard.
Then install abiword("apt-get install abiword"), create a shortcut ("debbie abiword"), and enjoy.

Otherwise, for plain text, I recommend leafpad, simple and easy
