You can disable ssl which should disable auth.

./scripts/setup webrick_ssl 0

Then start the server and access it with http://localhost:1978/

You can then go to Settings -> Users and add your users that way. If you still have problems, drop by at irc, it's a lot easier to help that way.

Re: Knots 2 - easy media streaming for most operating systems

I've tried installing under windows xp 32bit.

When I try to run run.cmd, it gives an error:

Quote:

C:\knots>ruby\bin\ruby.exe knots.rb

./lib/common.rb:272:in `detect_apps': undefined local variable or method `databa
se' for Common:Class (NameError)
from ./lib/common.rb:222:in `load_database'
from knots.rb:142:in `load_database'
from knots.rb:25:in `initialize'
from knots.rb:280:in `new'
from knots.rb:280
I've tried setting the path for vlc' but that didn't help.

I also tried to delete the database, but I couldn't:

Quote:

Can't exec \bin\sh <fatal>
Anything I'm or the pc is doing wrong, or any ideas ?

Regards

Run git pull in knots folder and try again. You can delete database in Windows by deleting the .config directory completely.

Thanks for replying.
That actually worked! :)

I just noticed that I still can't skip in the videos in the N900 media player, which was what I was hoping for..

But now it's up an running, so I can wait in exitement for the N900 client that'll hopefully be real one day.

Hi,

I can't seem to find Knots in the repositories.

I've definitely added extras-devel , but it's nowhere to be seen.

Any thoughts ?

If you are sure you added it correctly, maybe the list failed to update (maemo.org was almost dead last time i tried). But it should be there.

Weird, I forced an update and it appeared.

Thanks,

Re: Knots 2 - easy media streaming for most operating systems

Hi,

Thanks for this great application. I finally got it working on Windows 7 RC1 after some trouble with the paths and ruby, and am now streaming high quality videos to my N900 :)

A question regarding album art: from what I'm guessing knots expects the album art to be a jpeg named the same as the video file, in the same directory?

Also, with a directory structure is TV \ Series Name \ Series Season \ Episode Name, is there any way to automatically recognize an image (eg placed in that folder) for that Series Name or do I have to set them manually?

Finally, does anyone use a working automated way to get cover art for TV series and Movies based on their folder name?

Thanks

Yes, jpg, jpeg, png or gif. If it's there, it's used, if not, then knots will try grab a screenshot of the video with ffmpeg. For album art, you can use the "Fetch missing album covers" button. But you should first edit your album and artist tags so that there are no duplicates. Knots automatically applies the same image to each song in the album so the image is stored only once in the database.

Nope, you have to set them manually for categories, tags and values for now.

I do use themoviedb.org database and they do have images too, but their aspect is little wrong to my usage so I haven't implemented an automatic fetching, sry.

Re: Knots 2 - easy media streaming for most operating systems

Installing Git into "Program Files" on atleast Windows 7 makes it possible for ffmpeg to create files called "Program" into c:\ root, prohibiting Knots2 from launching VLC correctly. Install Git into any folder without spaces in the middle and it works properly.
