Re: Wear N810 On Arm

this is sooo cool! çok güzel! i really like it. can you post some more pics - like what it looks like when not on your arm? a more detailed close-up? or you could pose for a picture prtending to actually use it (you know, second hand on touch screen :D ...)

i could even imagine wearing this... except that probably i couldn't type on the keyboard when it's on my arm.

Re: Wear N810 On Arm

The photos look a bit odd; I'd even go as far as to say they look Photoshopped.

Very cool either way - not sure my arms are big enough. Maybe the smaller N900 (hmm, 3G radio => arm cancer? ;-/)

Re: Wear N810 On Arm

awesome! cool! wtf! it looks like shin megmi tensei COMP (handheld computer... in game it was so useful that u used for summon demons... that's not the case... i think)

teach us how! i wanna do it on my n800 (it is larger, but it could work

Re: Wear N810 On Arm

one of the best designs I have ever seen! I wish this design will also work for N900 because somebody else is using my N810 right now

You should make designs for N97..

so you fooled us? you're gonna pay for that! ;)

your punishment:
make the real thing! (it could work the way you desgned it, you know. it looks like some elastic material around your arm and an N810 within one of those PDA/PSP-cases attached to it.

probably the only thing that wouldn't work is the keyboard. - but you couldn't type on that, anyway, i guess.

(thanks for the great idea, though. i think i suddenly miss the times when i used to wear a wrist watch - you know, one of these large digital things that had 15 alarm modes and stuff... :D ...)

Re: Wear N810 On Arm

If I had one of these, I could ditch my wrist-watch (one of those large digital things with LF receiver, multiple alarms, world clock, and stuff).

If anyone makes some, they've got a customer right here. Of course, an N900 version would be even better.

Re: Wear N810 On Arm

lol :D I started to design something like the zypad some time ago, I had some thick acrylic sheets left over from another finished project and I needed to acquire some skill in 3D cad...
The goal was to integrade a small BT keyboard, my N800 and an external battery pack in a cool looking device... but once I had the overall weight calculated I realized I wasn't strong enough :D
Picturing myself laughing while setting the selfdestruction was amusing though :D

How about working something using an old NES powerglove?....I once made a remote control for a vehicle hydraulics system out of one. Should be more than enough space in the button box to work a mount.

They're not easy to find...

Ebay man...I just did a search and the first page had 4 at $20 or less. I picked one up a while back at a used videogame shop in Ft Wayne indiana called mc vans....totally complete and working for 15 bucks.

It could fit the back of my motorcycle glove pretty well:

http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2578/...6bfd69_b_d.jpg

Together with Navit or some other navigation software this could actually be an useful tool while riding.

Some concerns:
  • The device would need some water-proofing cover
  • Being able to charge from motorcycle batteries could be nice
  • I wonder how the weight of the device would feel after a long ride

Isn't that exactly what has lead us all to purchase our NITs?! Whether we know it yet or not... :p

Thanks. I've been looking for ways to safely mount my n810 on my bike, for easier navigation. Both of my main concerns would be alleviated by such an armband; rain protection and shock absorbsion (the hand is a better shock absorber than the sturdy metal frame of the bike).

This is vary interesting...
I have a Lether Case for Protection that i bought brand new on E-buy!And you can wear it on the Belt!
It was designed specificaly for Nokia N810,but once you put your device in it.You can only use the Tablet Screan. The Keyboard wont slide down cus of its all around protection. You can use the buttons on the Top,Charge and use the Headsets for Musik/Videos and so on...
Regardless its vary strong and protective on my device...

Re: Wear N810 On Arm

that looks good... to use the n810 on your waist?

well... cut the belt, open a hole to slide down the keyboard and it can be intresting ^^

Considering this is $3.99 with free shipping, is it of any use for any of you as a component for modding?

True. It keeps re-displaying the page. It's the only website I know with that problem.

If any of you have played Fallout, you should have instantly realized what this is like:

The Pip-Boy 3000!

That being said, I could take a crack at making one of these.

dukemagus 2009-07-25 17:12

Re: Wear N810 On Arm

well... ithink the shin megami tensei's COMP are a little more stylish, but using a pipboy as a base could be great too!

I've seen too many people run red lights, barely avoiding collisions while on a cellphone staring at the road.

Honestly, I would be interested in something that I could wear on my arm like that. Not that I would use it while riding the motorcycle that I don't have but I wouldn't mind using it while I'm bicycling. I use my n800 and a bluetooth gps to navigate the back roads of Japan and I wouldn't mind having it mounted on my arm.

when i ride my bike i carry my mp3 playing (set at low volume) n810 in its cover in a small nylon pouch around my neck. when i need to use the gps while biking i put my left hand through the fold up stand; i can still operate the left brake like that.
