You mean The Apple Store? Nah. All stores should be so no-pressure hands-on (you hear that, J&R and CompUSA?).
Update: I've tried some 3gp and one AMV conversion. No go. Even tried looking for more video conversion sites. Google results are 99% spamsites! |

I actually picked up my N770 at CompUSA on 5th, they were no-pressure... In fact, I had to wait 10 minutes after I paid at the register for someone to grab it from the stockroom. :) |

By the way, what's your goal? Are you trying to find a way to download and watch youtube video on Nokia 770? Or you are really looking for a video conversion site as the name of this topic implies and the solution for youtube only does not suit you? |

I don't know what would be involved with this mplayer and Python script stuff. I'm not a Linux person (nor is the 770's intended general audience!). Is there a tutorial somewhere?
My goal? To be able to grab a video -- from YouTube or whatever -- and convert it via a web interface into a version that I can then play on the 770. I want to do away with the desktop (and Apple Store!) for this. Why should this be difficult to do? Is Video Player simply *that* bad? I don't see why those 3gp conversions wouldn't work... Video Downloader site: http://javimoya.com/blog/youtube_en.php It's basically like the keepvid site except it *works* with the 770! At least I can grab the .flv file in case YouTube deletes it (which they have done to several files I was tardy in getting!). (Aside: Hey, Universal: Up Yours! Lay off YouTube, MySpace, etc, you greedy bastards. As Jeff Jarvis said: "Mr. Morris: I’d pay to see you face your artists — 50 Cent, Eminem, Elvis Costello, BB King, LL Cool J, Chris Rock, et al — and call them “software” to their faces." http://www.buzzmachine.com/index.php...deaf-and-dumb/ ) |
try the settings i mentionned above + res 240 x 192, and 12 frames/sec (fps). if it fails, then no way

Announcing VidConvert - online video conversion for the Nokia 770
Right, here we go:
--------------------------------------- http://www.bleb.org/services/vidconvert/ --------------------------------------- A 770-targetting video conversion site: you can upload a file, or enter a URL (including YouTube videos, e.g. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DA5vVa4WnUc) and get a video file which will play back on the 770's included Video Player. In fact, if you choose "Open" from Opera, Video Player will even stream it back from my server. Mmm, nice. Only one video will be encoded at a time and the results will be saved for 24 hours. I've only *just* this second finished it, so please be patient if there are any bugs, and let me know of any problems. Cheers, Andrew |

http://www.bleb.org/cgi-bin/vidconve...cgi?key=iezalu ...and it plays back on the 770 perfectly :-) |
First try: no go.
Select file from 770. Tap Convert. Get watch icon. Watch icon goes away. Nothing else. I've rebooted the 770 and cleared the cache and am about to try again. |
Hmm, if it still doesn't work can you send me the file?
