Re: A couple of Mediabox questions

So the FLVs are playing but mpgs are not? The mpgs and everything else works in mplayer. I read there is someplace to set player backend but the file appears different in this release, I can't find it.

Also, I can't use MediaBox till the volume issue is resolved. When Mediabox is at 100%, the Phone volume is like around 40%. Volume works fine in the osso media player.

diddo on the volume thing, its only at half, needs to b louder. any ideas?

also after the folders are indexed it doesnt seem to index all the songs, not all albums and artist show up unders music, altho, i can find em if i go through folder view. all my songs are on an sd card in a music folder. the structure is /music/artist/artist album. and altho ive downloaded the themes and fmradio and internet radio, those addons do not show up anywhere. any ideas? thanks and great work, love the portrait capability.

edit: correction apparently it is indexing all songs in my folder but strangely its grouping artist together that shouldnt be. for example, i indexed one folder alicia keys, So when I click on Music, then Albums, it shows unknown but has the DJ Hero cover art, clicking on that album shows the 3 songs that were indexed from Alicia Keys folder and those songs have her cover art but under title of each song it says unknown. strange. All my music files are .ogg and i have tagged them using mp3tag before they were converted to ogg and checked afterwards with mp3tag again to make sure all cover art and idtags are correct. The default media player finds all artist and songs with there proper albums, so im not sure whats different. Maemo5/n900 latest build2.2009.51-1.002

Having the same issue. The volume is pretty weak.
Also it would be nice to have a MediaBox widget :D

Re: A couple of Mediabox questions

First of all, really nice app!
Probably one of the most powerful apps for N900 - really like it!

But 2 issues:
1) Have the "half volume" problem too
2) Some of my Coverarts are quite poor quality in Mediabox while the standard Media Player (and of course on devices) shows the very same songs with cover arts in good quality...
Where does Mediabox get the Coverarts from is it "folder.jpg´s" or embedded coverarts in the MP3 files???

Thankx again, please keep going! Such apps are what we need to see N900 become a powerful and succesfull device!

This will be fixed in the next version.

Both, embedded cover art and folder.jpgs are supported. If you see poor quality, then either your embedded covers or cover files are of poor quality.
If you have both, cover files are preferred, IIRC.

Ah thankx a lot for your support!
Found my problem:
Had a file "SmallAlbumArt.jpg" (low quality) as well as a "folder.jpg" and embedded cover (both good quality).
After deleting the "SmallAlbumArt.jpg" everything is fine and Mediabox shows the cover in good quality...

Now this tool rocks even more :-)

EDIT: There are some cases were in the scenario described above the cover in good quality is shown...(even though a low quality SmallAlbumArt.jpg is present)
Oh well, now I know what to do to get always the good quality, so everything is fine :D

Re: A couple of Mediabox questions

I have about 25 gigs of MP3z and Flac files. When I click on Music and then artist, I never get a menu. The round "hourglass" animated wait icon just sits there. I can go into any other Music sub category with no problems.

Any ideas?

Would you mind sending me your /home/user/.mediabox/files.idx file for analysis of the problem? Best would be to open a bug at bugzilla and attach the file there. You may want to zip the file as it could be rather big.

Re: A couple of Mediabox questions

Hi,

have another question, is there a known issue / limitation with genre tagging?

Problem is when I hit "Genres" on the shelf, there are only very few songs / genres listed, while all files are listed under Artists and Albums just fine. The default media player also shows the genres perfectly...

It's an encoding error with invalid UTF-8. Remove the Beyoncé music and it ought to work. I'm going to fix this.

No offence to the Beyonce/JayZ folks but that ain't how I roll! Must have snuck on there in a compilation disc.

So, ditch that one tune?

That one song was causing trouble for sure. Thanx!

Can you out line how you found the problem?

Also, you're sworn to secrecy about me having that tune on my N900. Don't tell anybody...

I replaced my files.idx with yours and started MediaBox from Terminal. When I went to artists view I got an encoding error during sorting, and the only strangely encoded name was that one.

There should be none.

Does MediaBox list these songs under "Unknown" genre then? What file formats are these songs?

No, those files are not listed under "Unknown".
All files are MP3 files that are perfectly categorized within standard media player on N900 as well as in Winamp / Mediaplayer on Windows machines...shame on me, but even on iPod everything is working with those files...

Are these files not listed at all under genres or are they under a wrong genre?

The files are not listed at all under genres.
Seems like all files I added after installing Mediabox are missing under genres!?
Guess I will try what happens when I reinstall...

Re: A couple of Mediabox questions

Nope, reinstall didn´t solve the issue :-(
