Maemo summit 2009: Help promote the event!

The Maemo Summit is a showcase for the Maemo community, so it’s important to get the word out.

We are looking for help, specially from those who have designing skills, but everybody can help :)

You can help us promote the event in several ways:

* Create cool promotion banners, web badges or flyers.
* Write about the summit on your website, and add the url here.
* Help in the Summit merchandise design.
* Add banners/web badges in your website, put flyers in your work place/university/user group.
* Join the Maemo Summit groups in social networks.
* Spread the word about the summit, among your friends and colleagues.

IMO, variety is good, we don't need to stick with a very strait image for the summit promotion material, this is a community event and a lot of people in the community have different tastes, so each one can use the banner/badge/whatever he/she likes more :)

If someone has more ideas for promote the event, please share these with us.

I'm planning on writing a blog post about the Summit to my personal blog (which is shared and syndicated on Twitter and Facebook), but I'm just not sure it fits under "Maemo Summit In the News".

Would posting it there still be fine, or would you like to separate professional news sources from the personal blogs?

Nah, it's fine, add your blog post there, this is about promotion/buzz, every small help is a big help.

From; http://talk.maemo.org/showthread.php?p=330030

"Call me crazy, but shouldn't you guys use a Nokia nXXX with a badge application as your badge? Did a quick Google search and came across no stories, so I guess it would be a first. Submit it to Hack-A-Day, Engadget (hah), Make, etc, nice publicity. Especially showing the badge app on the n900"

Any thoughts?

ioioio, answered in the badge thread.

To those of you contributing to the Maemo Summit: CONGRATULATIONS!

The Summit is basically full of people and good sessions 3 weeks before the event. We don't look for speakers and live participants anymore.

Now the promotion needs to focus on the ressonance of the event before, during and after its celebration.

Let's make people aware of the contents of the schedule. Feel free blogging about your expectations and the sessions you think are more promising.

http://wiki.maemo.org/Maemo_Summit_2009/Schedule

It's also time to discuss the covering of the event while it happens. if you are coming to Amsterdam, how do you plan to help? If you are not coming, how do you plan to help? What do you all need to do your contribution efficiently?

And then the long tail starting right after the event. We will have at least all session of 3 rooms recorded and plenty of news. Let's squeeze all this!

Any reasons why all the talks are linked to their description except for those of the first day? (october 9)

I'm assuming that Nokia doesn't want to make them public...maybe until after the Summit. We'll see.

Edit: Wait, I'm on the first day... Hold on a second... ;)

No conspiracy theories. They were decided one by one and not after submitting proposals. Peter asked track chairmen (like me) to chase the speakers in our tracks to get those descriptions from them but alas we are very busy these days.

Tim, feel free editing yours. ;)

We'll see. I'm going to try to commit tomorrow and Friday to Summit affairs, but...
