Re: Nokia needs a name-brand for the maemo devices
Ok... Just watched the Nokia Booklet video. Pretty cool (I've commented on Twitter). Anyway, in the video they say "Sync effortlessly with your mobile," and it got me thinking... What about:
Nokia Mobile Now, that would pigeonhole a brand, wouldn't it? Trademark that puppy and no one could use the term Mobile for their devices anymore. :p Tim |

Nokia Booklet: Shouldn't it be Nokia JustAnotherNetBook? How disappointing.
Nice music and 3D text effects though. |
Re: Nokia needs a name-brand for the maemo devices
OK, I gotta name for the Maemo phones and tablets (could work with Netbooks, or whatever, too):
Nokia Nutshell Implies a whole lot of stuff contained in a small package. Comes up in conversation in the phrase "in a nutshell" so gets "free advertising" all the time. I checked it out on my girlfriend and her reaction was, "I like it. It's really cute." Has the N alliteration. Yes, it sounds a little like a takeoff on the Blackberry, but that's not bad. Especially since Nutshell makes sense and Blackberry sounds like nonsense. (A few years from now people would figure that Nutshell must have come first and that RIM desperately adopted the Blackberry name. ;) ) Works in conversation: "Hey, what's that?" "It's a Nokia Nutshell." "Honey, have you seen my Nutshell?" (Okay, ZeroJay, go for it!) First off the line, the Nokia Nutshell 900. (Or the Nokia Nutshell N900; or the Nokia Nutshell P900, to distinguish it from the upcoming :D Nokia Nutshell T900 tablet.) |
Re: Nokia needs a name-brand for the maemo devices
Awesome. Then when anyone summarizes by saying "in a nutshell...", it will be like calling soda "Coke" or tissue "Kleenex": free advertising. :D

Re: Nokia needs a name-brand for the maemo devices
Isn't it obvious... Nokia is building their lifelet range.
They've already announced the booklet 3G, which assumes the book-ish form factor... and it's only obvious that they'll follow it up with a desklet. The fabled N900 will naturally assume the tablet monniker. I can see their farming-oriented device in the future will be bestowed as the piglet.. and we're all waiting for their jewel of the crown which will be the toilet. |
