Ovi store for maemo

Ovi store for maemo.

If you will recommend 3 applications for Maemo that are very useful, what would that be?

What are the top 3 applications you saw on other devices and you want on Maemo?

And how about top 3 paid applications for Maemo. Are you willing to pay for MS Office/Word?

N-Gage on Maemo. Wouldn't be nice to have EA and other gaming houses titles on Maemo (like on Symbian)? What do you think?

This thread is mainly about:

1) What applications should be in OVI STORE for Maemo to make it compete with AppStore? What apps do you want to see in Ovi Store for maemo?

2) What Nokia will provide as development tools in the package for Ovi Store publishing besides the SDK, what tools?
Can we do the development directly on N900? Or do we need an emulator in Windows?

Ovi store does not have yet a section for Maemo, but when this will be, what applications would you buy from there, or you want there to download for free?

How about iTunes? :p

Sports tracker is a must have! Even though there is already a similar app for Maemo 4, called eCoach, Sports tracker is much more mature, and it already has a large community.
As well as some kind of Office suite, not necessarily M$. But in light of recent Nokia M$ alignment, and if the rumors are true that Nokia will ditch Symbian in favor of Maemo, it'll be interesting to see how will M$ react.
N-Gage would also be nice boost for the device.

Again, we need an "Other" option.

Yes this poll needs an other option.
---

Maemo apps are going to the Ovi store, then these need to be the best of the best. There's no point in the Ovi Store playing the role of yet another application manager, and there's even less a need for developers to push their wares to two Nokia venues.

If anything, apps from Maemo that are at a major version, have no show stopping bugs, and highlight the platform (Fremantle All Stars or something like that I once heard of) would do well there.
---

In terms of the other way around, Ovi Maps, Ovi Chat, Gravity, MWS, QuickOffice, Google Maps, and Nokia Friend View would be all solid Maemo offerings - if accessible from the Ovi Store.

---
EDIT: Qt apps work equally well right now for Symbian and Maemo right? Given the screen resolutions of S60v5 devices, there just might be a whole lot of inerplay between the platforms in terms of apps, making this not just very possible, but the most likely direction consumating in the next Maemo and one of the next 2 Symbian releases.

I'd like to see Nimbuzz, a MySpace/Facebook realtime widget, an app that threads SMS/MMS along with email and IM in a threaded view, a TV streaming app like PiipTv, a web video stream capturer like Realplayer desktop does, a video editor suite, an HDR application for photos,

I'm realizing, coming from a Symbian background, that witht the Nxxx browser, many apps aren't even necessary.

Awesome. Now let's wait for millions of others to catch up to that epiphany. :D

You should see it from the eyes of one who has used for years the s60 browser. Coming to microb or tear might be a shocking experience. You have a real browser, and you don't need any more those "widgets" that call themselves apps.

Maybe Iphone owners will see the light, too.

This is very true for most apps that are connected to a website, such as popular iPhone apps like Urbanspoon and banking websites, the RX-51 should be able to handle them easily. The only issue is the small screen eg. 4.2 inches was pushing it for Facebook and now 3.5 will be even worse.
Hopefully some useful extensions will come out/be ported over from firefox.
