the n900 must have a mechanism for securely* buying commercial content including games.

nokia should release an Ovi client for the n900 and roll their nGage division into that.

* from both the developers point of view as well as the customer.

"Ovi Store" for Maemo was confirmed by qgil and Peter@Marketing-Nokia, but there is no date, and there is no confirmation on a native client for Ovi Store for Maemo, like N97 has.

Also N97 has N-Gage client. Because it is written in C++ (the N-Gage service/not older the device was bought by Nokia from other gaming company), it will be a very smart move to port N-Gage platform to Mameo and to integrate it into OVI as a new category.

Looking at the POLL in this thread, most of the people choosed to have N-Gage, followed by MS Office applications. I believe Nokia needs to provide N-Gage to N900 Maemo devices, because there is a big customer demand for it.

Man, if only there were some major event coming up when Nokia could reveal such details.

Re: Ovi store for maemo

Ok, this thread is not about when exactly Ovi Store will be released for Maemo, it will be nice to know, we know Ovi Store for Maemo was confirmed.

This thread is mainly about:

1) What applications should be in OVI STORE for Maemo to make it compete with AppStore? What apps do you want to see in Ovi Store for maemo?

2) What Nokia will provide as development tools in the package for Ovi Store publishing besides the SDK, what tools?
Can we do the development directly on N900? Or do we need an emulator in Windows?

Re: Ovi store for maemo

I found the most downloaded applications from maemo.org site - so many downloads - about 5 000 000 (5 miliions downloads) right now. This shows Maemo platform very popular!

http://maemo.org/downloads/downloads/OS2008/25/

I also think the poll option OVI Maps is not correct because it is pre-installed on the device, so no need to download it from the Ovi store, only for the existing devices, if it is compatible with the old devices...
