Newbie need help flashing n810 from linux

Hello everyone. I got the Singtel version of the N810. I want to flash it. I followed the instructions from the threads here but i can't get past this " sudo ./flasher-3.0 -F RX-44_DIABLO_5.2008.43-7_PR_COMBINED_MR0_ARM.bin -f -R "

I got a " Syntax error: word unexpected (expecting ")") ". I google'd for this but all the links i found won't help. I would greatly appreciate any help. Thanks

You're not doing anything weird like running it on the device, or trying to run the amd64 version on an x86 computer?

Re: Newbie need help flashing n810 from linux

hmm? I'm not sure by that. I am using an amd cpu but i'm not sure if its amd64. Its a Amd Sempron +3000.

Edit: I can confirm mine is an amd64 now. Is there any workaround for this? Thanks.

Use flasher-3.0.amd64 then. It can be found on: http://tablets-dev.nokia.com/d3.php

Re: Newbie need help flashing n810 from linux

@ peterjb31. I'm using "Ubuntu 9.04 - the Jaunty Jackalope"
@ qwerty12. Will try it again. Thanks again.

@ qwerty12. I still get the same syntax error thing. I've inserted this " sudo ./flasher-3.0.amd64 -F RX-44_DIABLO_5.2008.43-7_PR_COMBINED_MR0_ARM.bin -f -R ".

I hope you're not typing in the quotes?

What is the exact, total output? Can you please paste it here without changing anything, including the terminal line where you enter the command?

Here it is as requested,

raffi@ubuntu:~$ cd Desktop
raffi@ubuntu:~/Desktop$ cd flasher
raffi@ubuntu:~/Desktop/flasher$ chmod +x flasher-3.0.amd64
raffi@ubuntu:~/Desktop/flasher$ sudo ./flasher-3.0.amd64 -F RX-44_DIABLO_5.2008.43-7_PR_COMBINED_MR0_ARM.bin -f -R
[sudo] password for raffi:
./flasher-3.0.amd64: 5: Syntax error: word unexpected (expecting ")")
raffi@ubuntu:~/Desktop/flasher$

Re: Newbie need help flashing n810 from linux

What happens if you type (after cd'ing to the folder), just "./flasher-3.0.amd64" (without quotes)? You should get a help output something like:
Code:

Nothing to do!

Options:
--fiasco, -F <arg>            Location of a FIASCO image

--load, -l                    Only load all supplied images
--boot, -b [arg]              Boot the kernel with optional cmdline

Re: Newbie need help flashing n810 from linux

@ pelago, Nothing happens after that. It just comes out ," raffi@ubuntu:~/Desktop/flasher$ "

Re: Newbie need help flashing n810 from linux

Maybe you could try flasher-3.0-static from that same tablets-dev page.

Re: Newbie need help flashing n810 from linux

I wonder what the filesize is ("ls -l"), and if you checked the checksum after download? Sounds extremely broken.

Raf26 2009-08-26 10:17

Re: Newbie need help flashing n810 from linux

@ qwerty12 - That didn't work either.

@Andre Klapper - How do i check the checksum? File size for flasher-3.0.amd64 is 608.4 KB. File size for flasher-3.0-static is 481.3 KB.

Hehe.. Well here it is,
flasher-3.0.amd64 = 622952 bytes
flasher-3.0-static = 492816 bytes

raffi@ubuntu:~/Desktop/flasher$ cksum flasher-3.0.amd64
2341345235 622952 flasher-3.0.amd64

raffi@ubuntu:~/Desktop/flasher$ cksum flasher-3.0-static
423035145 492816 flasher-3.0-static

Thanks to everyone who helped & spared their time throughout this.

Re: Newbie need help flashing n810 from linux

Hey guys. I have flashed my n810, thanks to my old P4 system. Had to get some parts to complete the system to install Ubuntu. Thanks again. :)
