Same way that I won't use half of what would make a Linux user happy on a 10" netbook at all either. You don't see how that's useful in a "just in case" situation. I don't see what a Linux lover would consider useful in a "just in case" situation either. |

You ought to see what I've run on my N800 in a pinch. Moving up to 10" from there is a welcome luxury. ;) |
Re: Nokia Booklet 3G
I guess one could compile Adobe Autocad for the tablet or a netbook. But that doesn't mean that it's usable. The screen is just too small. I'm not arguing that there's not a usecase for Autocad on a mobile device, like a laptop, but not on a device with 10" screen.

Re: Nokia Booklet 3G
I just love the fact that everyone's assuming that because this netbook isn't running Linux, it means that Nokia is turning their backs on Linux and Maemo and so on. You guys are so full of crap, it's not even funny.
In case you didn't know, Nokia isn't just three guys sitting up in a cottage in Lapland, Finland making choices. The company is *huge*. Just because they didn't put Linux on this ONE product doesn't mean they have any less of a commitment to Linux or to US as a community. Just because they are all under the same Nokia banner doesn't mean they know about everything going on everywhere else. So please, take the FUD elsewhere. Nokia putting out this Booklet is a non-story in general and you guys are making it out to be the end of Maemo. Don't worry. We're just two weeks away from the announcement of the N900 where you'll ***** and complain that you hate everything about it... so just hold tight, haters. |

Well put Zerojay. Can't thank you here with a button, so I'll do it vocally.

Re: Nokia Booklet 3G
I guess some people are disapointed, because we've been told that Maemo will be used in all kinds of devices with different form factors, architectures and hardware features, that we assumed that the rumoured netbooks will atleast have a Maemo option. And wouldn't that be great to have the same OS on your smartphone and netbook devices. Wasn't that the vertical OS thing that everyone was excited about?

Re: Nokia Booklet 3G
I routinely run multi-track audio software (Ableton Live, Celemony Melodyne, Bias Peak, and others) on a 1280x800 screen. The Booklet is 1280x720, and has an HDMI out. For my personal case use, there is no problem.
Btw, none of these audio packages are available for Linux, and there really isn't anything even close. So it's OSX or Windows - frankly, either is fine with me. |

We must learn to walk before we can run.

Just as I made user acceptance testing for a web app work on the N800. Just as I made database management work on the N800. Just as I made app configuration work on the N800. Where there is a will (and I have no shortage there) there is a way. |
