Nokia E71x: Anyone using one?

Hi.

I've finally had it with my Blacbkberry Curve, which resets and random times and so forth. Since AT&T has such a limited selecetion of phones, and I would prefer to stick with Nokia or Motorola (they seem to have the best antennae/receivers), the only one I can find that seems acceptable is the Nokia E71x.

I was just wondering if anyone here has one, and what their impressions are of this phone.

Thanks,

I have an E71 and I love it.

I don't use the Nokia email though, so I can't comment on that. I use Profimail which works great for me with IMAP idle.

The keypad is the best I've used on a qwerty phone. The camera gets widely criticised but I was pleasantly surprised by it.

I find the E71 makes the perfect companion to my N810.

The build quality is fantastic, too. Not long after I had it I dropped it (accidentally, obviously) on our stone tile kitchen floor. I thought it was going to smash into a million pieces but there wasn't a scratch on it. I've also spilled an entire cup of hot tea over it and it didn't miss a beat.

get the e71 unlocked. e71x has been bastardized and chained by ATT overlords.

True, but I got mine for only $50. :D

But yeah, better to get the E71. That said, I do love my little E71x.

Correction: You got yours for $50 + 2 years

And this.

There are some changes. Google around for e71x versus e71 and decide for yourself. I bought the e71x, returned it within its return period and paid a huge amount for e71 just a few months back, Aprilish. (The fact that I am giving it to my dad and buying a n900 is a different story :P )

There are not a lot of differences though, mostly cosmetic. No radio, for instance, and I believe you can't remove the AT&T apps.

Oh yes there is! No Ovi services, like Maps, some apps won't install, branding is everywhere, unhackable, can't move the icons around, and debranding can kill your warranty.

NEVER BUY BRANDED! Isn't this a FOSS forum?? Come on, folks!

Right now, I really only need basic functions:
  • Basic phone
  • Text messaging
  • Media playback
  • Plays nicely with my Motorola S9 bluetooth headset/headphones/remote control

One question though, and I'm hoping against hope, does the E71(x) play ogg files?

Thanks,
